Close contact and try againI managed a few times to restart the engine after a few seconds or a few minutes the engine stops again ? I receive messages REDUCED ENGINE POWER or STARTING DISABLED ??

    I'm trying to start my Montana 2006 and there's nothing happening ........... with gas pump and starter ............. ..... after several attempts (close contact and try again) I managed a few times to restart the engine ........... after a few seconds or a few minutes the engine stops again .... ............. ?????????????? I receive as messages: ..REDUCED ENGINE POWER ...... or again ..... STARTING DISABLED .................. ??????

    there are fault codes
    use a scanner that has the correct protocol to read them from the cars computer

this is going to sound nuts but its true.if your brakelight switch is defective that light will flash.
see if you brake lights are working.if it is automatic trans you will notice the shifter will not always release when you depress brake pedal.
if its not brakelight switch get it autoscaned with a VAG.com

DTC P1516 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance

Your vehicle has an electronic throttle body unit so it uses voltage signals to control throttle blade in the throttle body. There are a few different issues that can cause this problem.

First off there is a update for the PCM to address those codes, but you will have to take it to the dealer for that.

Second there is issues with the actuator on the throttle body binding up and causing the codes.

Third there is a yellow wire coming off the throttle body connector that breaks inside internally and cannot be seen to the naked eye. The best way to test that is to grab the wire about 5 inches from the connector and tug if it feels spongy or breaks, that

You must complete a OBD2 drive cycle, unless you do the kind of driving that satisfies the computer testing you can drive for a year. Go here for the test and how you need to drive to complete the drive cycle.


1 Ensure that fuel filler cap is fully closed (minimum three clicks).

2 Fuel level > 30% and < 85%.

3 Using WDS scanner perform ECM DTC Clear (even if no DTCs are flagged).

4 Drive vehicle for a minimum of 2 minutes, and until engine is at normal operating temperature.

5 Using WDS, ensure that the EVAP Canister Purge Valve is operating by observing "PURGE VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE - DUTY CYCLE". If the valve is not

active, ECM adaptions have not been learned. Conduct a "green ECM" Drive Cycle as described in Technical Service Bulletin.

6 Drive vehicle to the road where the EVAP System Drive Cycle will be conducted. Stop vehicle and switch OFF the ignition. Leave ignition OFF for 30 seconds,

then restart the engine.

7 Accelerate briskly to 80 km/h (50 mph) ensuring that the engine speed reaches a minimum of 3500 rpm for a minimum of 5 seconds.

8 (0.040 inch EVAP Test) View WDS "PURGE VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE - DUTY CYCLE", "CANISTER CLOSE VALVE - VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM", and

FUEL TANK PRESSURE - VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM". Avoiding high engine loads, drive the vehicle steadily between 65 km/h (40 mph) and 100 km/h (60

mph). Avoid driving conditions that will produce excessive fuel movement. WDS should give an indication that the test is active (it may take up to 30 minutes

before the test will initialize). When the test has initialized (EVAP Canister Close Valve CLOSED), it will take approximately 90 seconds for the test to complete.

9 (0.020 inch EVAP Test) Continue driving vehicle as explained in Step 8 for an additional 10 minutes.

10 Gently coast the vehicle to a stop. Allow the engine to idle for 2 minutes and view WDS "PURGE VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE - DUTY CYCLE", "CANISTER

CLOSE VALVE - VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM", and FUEL TANK PRESSURE - VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM". WDS should give an indication that the test is

active. When the test has initialized (EVAP Canister Close Valve CLOSED), it will take approximately 90 seconds for the test to complete.

11 If the 0.020 inch EVAP Test is not activated, the purge system vapor concentration may be too great. To reduce the vapor concentration proceed as follows:

12 Drive the vehicle for an additional 30 minutes avoiding driving conditions that will produce excessive fuel movement. Repeat Step 10. If the 0.020 inch EVAP

Test is still not activated, repeat the Drive Cycle from Step 6.
13 Using WDS, check for and clear flagged DTCs

Diesel engine runs then stops then runs stops every few minutes


Mate I use to drive a freightliner and it cut out on me one day, I eventually got it started but cut out again after about 5 minutes, I rang a mechanic to come out and he found a heat sensor wire came off the radiator and that caused the motor to cut out... Hope I haven't wasted your time.......

I think you have a leaking headgasket or a coolant leak. Have the cooling system pressure tested first, if no external leaks show up then you have a possible leaking headgasket.

My 1993 nissan sentra 1.6 wont run and check engine light wont turn on,bulb is ok


Could be any of several things. If the crank sensor is marginal and not sending pulses, the fuel pump is shut off. This is for safety. The pump is energized for a few seconds as key is turned in preparation for starting then engine must rotate normally to keep the pump on. If it stops, in a few seconds the fuel is cut off.

When driving suddenly the engine cuts out.


I heave the same problem on my Corsa B 1.0 2000, engine cuts out, and whe it happens, I hear one of the relay under the right side of the dash buzzing. After a couple of minutes, starts like nothing happend.
So far I manage to find that the speed sensor is faulty, when I tap him the car stops. I order a brand new one, but I'm not sure that was the issue.
I order also a Opel Tech2 tester from ebay and it has to arrive next week, then I can see the error code.

Engine only cranks at times but doesn't start for a few minutes.


There is is something called a pgmi relay that goes bad. Its under the dash, left of the column. It is rectangular, and says pgmi on it. It is fairly expensive. Can only get it from Honda.

Hi, were the spark plugs ever replaced in the car recently ?
As when they get old & hot they can cause these sorts of problems & also cheap brand plugs as well do the same.
