Locate thehose on the left side of the car next to the air filter, trace this hose to where it enters the motor. Loosen the two bolts hlding the thermostat, place a mark on top of the thermostat before removing to ensure you replace it in the same manner in which it was removed. Take the thermostat place the thermostat in some water and boil the warter, if the thermostat opens, then check the temp sending unit located next to the thermostat.

Temp is staying at 210 and does rise while in use. we replaced thethermostat and radiator cover. any ideas. I just bought it used 2 weeks ago

The I6 engine needs to be at 210 degrees, no less than that. The Temperature guage is just a guess, hook up a scanner and look at live data if you have one. Did you replace the coolant temperature sensor also? In 04', it's right above the thermostat you replaced. If you don't have a scanner----If the guage just rises a 1/16" of an inch to an 1/8" past 210, I wouldn't worry about it with your new thermostat in place.

Why does my audi tt temp. gauge go hotter than engine temp. fans work changed thermosat , temp sensor ,and water is ok ?

Hi
i suppose i have to ask how it is that you know these temperatures are different?
is the car actually overheating?
Have you had it scanned for any fault codes?
You may have a defective temp guage...check it by removing the sender plug and see if the guage falls totally to zero...earth the guage wire and see if the guage goes to max.

Temp guage Rises/almost oveheats when Heater is on. Temp Rises to almost H then drops fast to just above C and repeats but only while heater is on

The cooling system has an air pocket in it. The best solution is to have someone with a vacuum coolant system, and drain and replace the coolant. The only other way,is to jack up the front of the vehicle, and take off the radiator cap,and run it with the heater on full blast. Wait till the thermostat opens,(when coolant level drops)...then top it off while its still running. If you buy ,or have a friend who has a tool called an "Air Lift",..it will make this MUCH easier, and cleaner to fix.

Coolant temp guage will not rise. heat blows cool.. when coolant guage does rise heat blows hot. doesnt always rise.what do i do or fix

Most likely, the engine thermostat is stuck open or missing. Changing the thermostat (or installing one) may solve your problem.

Car revs up on its own, and also the temperature gauge never rises. it is always on zero.

If temp. guage never rises...most likely the radiator thermostat is stuck in the open position, therefore always running coolant thru the motor. Kills your gas mileage, because the engine is always running cold. And you won't get much heat when you turn the heater on. If this is so, have the thermostat changed.

Heat guage

This is a pretty common phenomenon. Air is moving through the radiator when the car is in motion, but not when it stops (unless the fan is on). Make sure the fan is working on the car, and don't let the gauge go much over half-way.
