Gwm 2.5 tci starts but the engine runs for few seconds and cuts off and it starts again when you start it but keeps cutting off

I had this problem with my old Audi 80 and basically it was a knackered fuel pump. If your car is a few years old avoid the main Audi dealers and take it to an independant Audi/Volkswagon specialist and you will save a small fortune.

The sucking noise could mean that you have a loose intake hose of a major vacuum leak check intake are for broke or loos hoses.

HI,HANNAH,I SUSPECT YOU HAVE AN IMMOBILIZER PROBLEM.IF THERE IS A ORANGE LIGHT FLASHING ON THE CLUSTER WITH AKEY IN IT THEN IT IS THE IMMOBILIZER.THE PROBLEM WOULD MORE LIKELY BE THE DATA FROM THE KEY IS NOT GETTING TO THE IMMOBILIZER CONTROL UNIT,USUALLY A BAD CONNECTION AT THE READER COIL ON THE IGNITION.YOU MUST CLOSE THE TERMINALS SLIGHTLY AND INSULATE THE WIRING SEPERATELY.ANDY

honestly, I've not seen an alfa romeo here in the philippines but i think you problem is partly electrical and the electronic side of the car. something on your car is heating up so much that it cuts the power to the ignition once it has. it is a possibility that a damaged ignition coil or a faulty computer box(if your car has one) or the control system that regulates the spark distribution system or the injectors(if your car is fuel injected type).

Sounds like you're starting fine and there's no apparent problem with the engines electrical impulses in regards to wires, plugs, coil etc,..

Which it sounds like you're running off residual fuel but continuous fuel supply is being disrupted.

I'm all but certain if you pull a SP it'll have unburned fuel on it. Check your fuel pump, filter, pressure regulator and injectors

From those symptoms the pump could be faulty, filter clogged and only feeding seepage, the regulator could be flooding it out ot the injectors aren't opening { clogged }

What do you get when you try to press the accelerator when it's running or have you not tried that?

What causes engine to cut out?


Maybe your coil pack. It can overheat and short out. Then it cools down and will work for a while till hot again.Could also be spark plugs and wires.

There seems to be an lurking error that comes into the ECU/ECM and so it prevents the engine to run as this seems to be a protection for further damage or prevention.
So you need to check the input parameters to the ECM , check the engine oil,oil filters the fuel filters and the oil pressure switch. The check engine light code must be confirmed and identifed to recitify the fault. Please take consensus with the service center before you finalise the fault.

- When was the last time this car had a tune-up? Could be as simple as that. New spark plugs/rotor/distributor cap/condenser might do the trick.

Other causes could be:
- bad fuel pump relay (definitely first on the list of things to check, and cheapest to fix)
- clogged/old fuel filter
- bad fuel pump

It sounds like the plugs are bad or not heating correctly. Running it out of petrol can mess them up like that sometimes.
