Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Brother SQ9185 : the forward advance is different then backward advance. With this all decorative stiches are compromissed. How to adjust ?

(seems the motor witch select forward/backward references when power up one or two teeth out of position - if I "force" the small white "ancor" a little bit down then works fine till powerdown again ). Does it have any "maintenance mode" when I can set the amount this motor moves to switch forward/backward ?

SOURCE: Drivers electic seat will not adjust

I just had the same problem. When the seat is powered all the forward, one of the worm drives reached the end of its travel and jammed against the threaded block that it passes through. To fix this the seat has to be unbolted and tipped back. There are four tiny 6mm bolts that hold the motor plate in. Remove these and the motor will come out. The worm drive is bolted in at one end and has a set pin at the other. Remove the worm drive and use a couple of vice grips or equivalent to loosen the threaded block from the worm drive.

SOURCE: gear select lever is very loose. It move forward

There is a pin that goes through the shifter that hold it in place, along with a spring just inside where the end of the shifting lever is, that makes the lever "return" after you pull it back to shift. These springs can break and bind up. Take a look at both.

SOURCE: Driver's seat unable to move forward or backward

There are plastic gears connecting the track to the seat assembly. Whne one of these strip the seat will only work or move to one side. Infiniti does not sell a simple fix. You are looking at buying an entire seat assembly complete with the module for all the electronics. It will be at a cost of around $950 - $1000. Once that is in, Infiniti must program the seat to the brain of the car, only then can you reset your memory settings.

All cars are different it might just me a stripped gear or something but yeah you should be able to replace it yourself. Youll probally have to take the seat out though :/

I have an 03 lincoln navigator the driver seat wont go forward or backward it can only go up and down, but every time touch the switch i hear a click, what can be my problem and what can be done to solve...

Most Ford products are designed so the seat belt latch by the center console moves with the seat. The bottom of the latch rides on the seat rail, and with time sometimes it builds up a little play on the rail. As the seat moves forward or back, the seat belt guide often tilts forward or back, just a bit, on the rail, and gets stuck. So you can move forward or back just a bit, but then it jams and you can hear the motor, but can go no further.

The long term fix is to remove the seat, disassemble the seat belt guide and rail, and usually replace some parts.

But the short term solution is often to simply hold on to the seat belt latch and rock it forward and away from the seat as you try to go forward or back. Or, sometimes it works best to rock it backwards and away from the seat as you try to move forward or back. It all depends on which way it is binding.

There's no guarantee that it won't jam again if you move it all the way back or forward, but once you find the right position to hold the seat latch in while moving the seat, you should be able to re-adjust it where you need it to be.

How do I adjust the front headrest on my 2009 Lincoln MKS so that they do not tilt so far forward?

I turned my headrests backward. Worked great. In fact, I wonder if the engineers designed them that way but the production guys build them backward???
1) Tilt the seat way back to allow room to remove headrests, 2) Press and hold both headrest release tabs at the same time and have someone else pull out the headrest completely, 3) turn the headrests backward and insert into the two headrest guide slots (headrests fit the same either way). 4) No more pain in the neck !!!
Caution: I do not know what this does for whiplash injury protection but it seems OK for my own comfort with the solution. And it beats the pain in the neck caused by the bass-akwards design.

The power seat adjuster has stopped moving the seat forward/backward but will adjust the seat up/down. I can't find anything obstructing its path. Is there a simple explanation for this? Jeep Liberty 2002.

Those power seats have two power motors. One moves it up and down. The one that moves the seat forward and backwards must have gone bad. Have it checked and replaced if necessary.

It sounds like you drove it in the rain and parked for a while. I doubt you have damaged anything but why be so bold. Remove the rear wheels and hubs so you can inspect the brakes.

Hyundai sonata 2006 power seat will move forward but not backward. Other seat adjustments seam to work fine

it seems as though the seat switch has gone bad, if the seat moves forward then your motor should be fine, so it is either the switch or the wires leading to the switch, , to check the wires attach them to another part of the seat, if that works then your switch itself is bad
