SOURCE: If I want to duplicate my car keys where should I go?

If you were to lose your keys to your car/motorbike/van, or if for example a vehicle you purchased only had one set of keys for some reason, then your Auto Locksmith will be able to not only provide you a duplicate key, but also importantly ensure that only the keys that are in your possession can be used, removing all others from the motor vehicle's database so they will no longer start the car.
The services provided by Locksmith San Jose were the best and safest. They came up with a team of skilled and trained professionals who have a solution to all the vehicle and automobiles lock issues.

Need new key

  • 1

Contact the service department of a dealership that specializes in your make of car. The local Ford, Dodge, Chevy or Nissan dealership can fabricate a new key based on your VIN and other information.

  • 2

Call an automotive locksmith. Companies that pop locks for stranded motorists often have the capability to print new keys, depending on your car's specific make and model

  • 3.
  • Get in touch with roadside assistance if you are an AAA member or subscribe to a dealer-specific roadside service plan. Some of these agencies can get you a new key, and the ones that cannot often reimburse part of the cost of calling a locksmith.

  • 4

Test any replacement key your receive in your car's doors and ignition before paying for the service. Modern keys have electronic transponders; they may fit in the door, but that is not a guarantee they can start the engine.

2005 GMC Sierra: key goes into ignition key buzzer sounds but switch will not turn to "start" or "run" position.

key maybe worn down.. I suggest you take ownership to dealer and they will cut you a brand new key from your VIN. This will eliminate any key issues. most of the time the will work perfect. if not then the cylinder has problems with it and will need service by a locksmith. the dealer will charge to much for this service, so find a automotive locksmith to help.

Good morning, i have a 1996 BMW (5 series) and cant get the car to start. Im being told by the machanic that the "CHIP" n the key has went bad and thats the reason the car wont start so i need to...

if the chip in the key went bad ( which it does happen ) -- you should not need to replace the ' ignition ' or the ' security system ' to fix this problem,, this is just how mechanics get the system to work and charge the customer BIG money for a quick and easy fix.
if it is in fact just the key chip - then you can have a ' automotive ' locksmith that has the programer to program BMW keys come out to your vehicle and program a new key into the system and maybe even get the old key to re-program into the system and you will be good to go. now the cost of this service is not cheap and the keys are very expensive,, but it will be cheaper then the mechanics idea of replacing everything to get it to work. when on the phone with the locksmith make sure you tell them the make and model of your car and the problem that you are having and make sure they have the equipment to do the job right,, there should be more then one automotive locksmith in your area and I would say to call them all and look for the most confident one.

Where can I get a replacement key fob?

    or

  • Call the dealership and ask what sort of key you need. Ask them how long it will take and how much it will cost to replace your key. A couple of hours should be expected, as each coded key still needs to be cut like a standard key. Generally, coded keys cost a little over $100.
  • 2 Call an automotive locksmith if you are unsatisfied with either the price or the time alloted to replace your key through the dealership. Many will come to your car and check your ignition as well as deliver your key in a timely fasion. Automotive locksmiths are best if getting to the dealership is a major inconvenience and may be much cheaper than towing a car with an ignition that needs to be repaired.
  • 3 Order your key. An automotive locksmith may be able to deliver it to you directly on site and will check to see if it is working and service your ignition as well. If you use a dealership, be sure to try the new keys in your Chrysler and make sure that they work. If not, the dealership may have coded the key incorrectly.
