2010 Ford Fiesta and the key will only go past on position and allow the car to start occasionally.Ignition works well out of the housing. Is this an electrical problem as its not mechanical ign fault

The point of contact between the key and the starter has been displaced further, so the key must go further to establish contact. It's an electrical fault.

hi with the engine running at idle .get a multimeter and check for a voltage of between 13.5 volts and 14.7 at the battery terminals lower than 13.5 or higher than 14.7 replace alternator.

If I understand, the key will not rotate to all of the normal positions? If this is true, then I would guess that the trani didn't fully return to the park position please verify, You can check the ignition switch(the one that is half way down the steering column) for defects. Is there any binding, does the rotate freely? Thank you; good luck.

your ignition have to be replaced focus 2002/7 have that problem and a lot more often if you have a lot of other keys with it,try some wd40 ,but if you do take the key out replace the ignition or you going to get stuck.

Ford Fiesta 1989. Starting problems

Hello! i would suspect the Carb fuel bowl vent level clearance..

Mechanical Fuel Bowl Vent Lever Clearance Adjustment

Secure the choke plate in the wide open position...
Turn ignition key to the ON position to activate the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)... Open the throttle so that the TPS plunger extends fully.
Verify that the throttle is in the idle set position (contacting the TPS plunger)... Measure the clearance of the fuel bowl vent arm to the bowl vent actuating lever. ..Fuel bowl vent clearance (dimension A) should be 0.03 in. (0.76mm)...See diagram below...Guru...saailer

After i changed oil and filter, the light stays on

Push gas and brake to the floor with key off. keep holding them both down and turn ignition to the on position(don't start) and keep it held for 20 seconds and it will reset. turn key off and done. This is in your manual.....
