SOURCE: fuel gage sending unit

I have a 1991 Ford F-250 with dual gas tanks. When I turn the ignition on there is no power to the fuel sending uhit. You cannot hear the unit when the key is turned on, therefore the vehicle will not start. While attempting to check for power I grabbed the frame and the I could hear the unit click on. I drove the vehicle and upon parking the vehicle I shut the ignition off and the problem occurred again. Seems to me there is a short somewhere, but what is the best solution.

SOURCE: remove fuel pump from tank ford windstar 98

To gain access to the fuel pump, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank.

  1. Depressurize the fuel system and remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
  2. Remove any dirt that has accumulated around the fuel pump module attaching flange, to prevent it from entering the tank during service.
  3. Turn the fuel pump module locking ring counterclockwise using a locking ring removal tool or a brass drift and remove the locking ring.
  4. Remove the fuel pump module.
  5. Remove the seal gasket and discard it.

To install:
  1. Put a light coating of grease on a new seal ring to hold it in place during assembly. Install it in fuel tank ring groove.
  2. Insert the fuel pump module into the fuel tank, then secure it in place with the locking ring. Tighten the ring until secure.
  3. Install the tank in the vehicle.
  4. Install a minimum of 10 gallons of fuel and check for leaks.
  5. Install a pressure gauge on the throttle body valve and turn the ignition ON for 3 seconds. Turn the key OFF , then repeat the key cycle five to ten times until the pressure gauge shows at least 30 psi.
  6. Check for fuel leaks at the fittings.
  7. Remove the pressure gauge.
  8. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

SOURCE: replacing fuel pump do i need to remove tank 1993

No, you don't have to drain the fuel tank. All you have to do is relieve the fuel pressure. If your car will start, remove the fuse or relay for the fuel pump and start the car. Let it idle until it stalls. Then turn off the key and remove the negative battery cable (to prevent sparks while you work).

I hope this helps.

How to change fuel pump on a 98 Pontiac sunfire

disconnect the electrical connections and fuel lines and vent lines at the tank then disconnect the fuel filler hose from the tank. support the tank then undo the fuel tank straps then lower the tank down to the ground. be careful as the tank will be heavy depending on how much gas is in it. clean the area around the sending unit. there is a lock ring that holds the sending unit assembly in the tank that needs to be removed then you can pull out the unit. at the bottom of the sending unit is the fuel filter. follow the instructions that came with the new fuel pump.

Replacingn Fuel Sending Unit

If you have access to it without removing the fuel tank, there is no reason to drain the tank. Just relieve the pressure. Have rags handy when the lines are pulled apart to catch fuel drips. Clean the area well around the pump assembly to tank mounting hole. Use an air compressor if available, or just make sure no dirt falls into the tank after the pump is removed.

Where is the Fuel sensor locate on a 98 chev blazer?

Both the fuel level sensor/sending unit and the fuel tank pressure sensor are located on or in the fuel pump module.

The fuel tank will need to be lowered in order to gain access to the fuel tank pressure sensor which will be the black sensor on top of the fuel pump module.

The fuel tank will need to be removed in order to remove the fuel pump module to gain access to the fuel level sending unit attached to the side of the fuel pump module.

1990 alfa spider car will not start, looked at the fuel gauge & it seems does not move ( at zero) there's fuel in the tank. but I noticed fuel indicator light does not come on when I turn the key....

The float/sending unit inside your fuel tank has gone bad. It can be replaced, but will likely require dropping the fuel tank. The replacement itself is rather simple and straightforward, but removing and replacing the tank is messy, hazardous, and better left to a dealer or professional mechanic. You might consider using the odometer/trip meter to estimate your fuel usage.

Fuel pump 98 s10

You must first drain and lower the fuel tank, as your pump is mounted inside. With the fuel tank supported, undo the tank mounting straps, and the filler hose, then slowly lower it until you can disconnect the fuel lines and electrical harness. The pump assembly is now accessable. Remove and replace the assembly , then reinstall the tank .

Fuel gauge stopped working

Can't say for sure since you did not include year of your car but more than likely it's the fuel sending unit that requires replacement. Some years you can replace just the level sensor on the fuel sending unit but both repairs involve dropping the gas tank and opening to remove the fuel sending unit.
