Question about Kia Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Re: 2006 (early(makes a difference in almost everything)).Kia Optima LX 2.4 my kia runs extremely well uses maybe 1/4 quart every 3,000 mi. about 15,000 ago the engine at idle developed a slight vibration in park or neutral. it enhances a lot when in gear, at idle. several tune ups, replacement of crank position sensor, timing belt complete replacement, no engine light, top line nipon denso plugs, and more. there is no change whatso ever. im getting +/- 20 mpg overall. Kia dealer wants $250. to "check it out" then a charge if they actually work on it. And, no, NO guarantee it will solve the problem. H E L P !!! please

SOURCE: Engine Check Light - 2006 KIA Optima

Hi

Before you turn out the light you should have a code read carried out just to make sure nothing sinister is going on with the management system.

If the car is running ok then the code will probably either pertian to the O2 sensor, the EVAP system, or a drop in catalytic efficiency, but this isn't set in stone, just the most popular scenarios.

Very best regards

Geordie

Try the ignition switch,

For the Crank sensor there is a small metal disc that mounts behind the sensor if that is cracked or dammaged or installed backwards you will get same results as if it wasn't Make sure the timing marks line up on your timing belt. www.kiatechinfo.com

SOURCE: 2004 KIA Optima LX timing belt/water pump

The thing is your doing the timing belt the water pump is right their with it . it should cost you much more at all besides the cost of the water pump. When doing a timing belt I have a rule that I go by The timing belt/seals =cam , crank , any pulley & tensioner & water pump all get replaced at the same time. I did a t-belt on a Audi A-8 very complex whole front of car has to come off as well, he didnt want to do w-pump & thermostat his thermostat was their as well not even a month later the water pump gave out he had to pay double the price because he didnt want to do it when I had it apart the first time. And make sure mechanic is ase certified . good luck

SOURCE: 2004 Kia Optima no start after timing belt, crank, cam sensor replacement

did you use aftermarket crank sensor? if so that might be your problem. dealer has several different ones, by providing vin number, but there is only one after market for all optimas 01-05. try to connect thick pink wire and thick orange wire together on the ignition failure sensor. you might have the same problem as me. good luck.

Could this be why I do not have cold air just noticed it was broke and someone used wire tie to hold it together this is in a 2006 Kia Optima Lx

I really can't see much from this photo since it is so small. It this the connection to a pressure switch? If it is making a good connection it should not be your problem, but clip the nylon tie and check it to make sure.

Where is the fuel sensor on a 2006 kia optima

It depends on WHICH fuel sensor are you looking for. The fuel level sensor is part of the fuel pump module assembly, which is located INSIDE the fuel tank. The fuel temperature sensor is mounted in the TOP of the fuel tank.
Note: The fuel teperature sensor only applies to early production 2.4L engines. Other 2006 Kia Optima's are not equipped with one.

Need how to set timing belt on kia optima

I had 2006 kia optima 2.4 liter LX, I drove 150000 miles plus, it was over 100,000 miles I changed timing belt, and AC belt, alternator belt is still ok, but it was my fault, I did not change crank shaft balance belt, it next to timing belt, this very important, timing belt and crank shaft balance belt must change same time, you set all mark the same positions, you can see all clear marked
if you had OBD2 scanner is helpful to read all faulty codes if you do it your self repair
if you have any problems about KIA optima, please post on any websites, to share some ideas to other KIA optima owners, like me, I change oil every 2500 miles to make my optima runs smoother
automatic transmission fluid change every year if you put high mileage on your car, optima had hard time to find it own part some time, radiator hoses are still good condition and had hard time to find in any auto part stores in my home town, good luck and thanks for sharing.

In my 2006 kia optima lx, I need to get the fuel tank lock ring off. but how, cant seem to drive it off. Is there a special tool?

You should be able to get it off with a screwdriver and a hammer. They are pretty tricky to get off. And they are even harder to get back on. But you CAN do it with a hammer and screwdriver. They may make a special tool. But I have always used a hammer and screwdriver.

Kia:Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 Transition

If it comes on and it was not a fluke I will replace the O2

My check engine light keeps coming on on my 2004 kia optima lx, 4 cylinder dohc, a little over 92000 miles on it. I had the codes checked and got this result: Code P0320 definition: ignition/distributor...

Check with the place that checked the codes for you. Maybe they can test the IG sensor for you. That might help. Otherwise check all the connections relating to the sensor.

Where is the oil filter located on a 2006 Kia Optima Lx?

sgutowski283: the LX had 2 different engines which could have been in you car. However, KIA has engineered their engines to where the oil filter is located at the very front of the engine below the front crank pulley on both the 4 and 6 cylinder engines.
STAY AWAY FROM CHEAP OIL AND CHEAP OIL FILTERS! You engine will last for 200,000 miles easily, if taken care of.
Good luck, Give the folks at FIXYA some feed back if your happy with my assistance.
Thanks.
