CANT REMOVE COVER FOR LEFT HEADLAMP - 2006 Volkswagen New Beetle

Posted by on

  • bpakkj Jul 27, 2009

2006 beetle left headlamp. the bulb is out and need to replace it. I've removed the airfilter but the wireclamp wont pop up enough to remove back cover. And do I need to rempve the battery also? If the battery needs removed does it matter which cable gets removed first?

  • bpakkj Jul 27, 2009

Cant unplug the headlight because it has a cover on it. Cant remove the cover because no room to do it without removing other stuff, possibly the battery. If I remove the battery does it require the cables being removed in a specific order.

Rule of thumb with a battery is to remove the Black or ground cable first, then the red or positive last, then reconect the red first putting the black one on last. Yes take the battery out of your way then this will allow room to access your light assy..

Open the hood. Unplug the headlight, then pull the headlight from the outside. Little by little until it comes off. Replace the bulb. Put headlight back in carefully. Make sure it makes a clicking sound. Plug back your headlight. And your good to go. Oh by the way it takes 2 people to do this.

Hi there. The cover may have a little corrosion holding it in place. Go to any autozone auto parts store with the car. Explain the problem. I would ask them for a can of WD-40 or similar product which will quickly loosed corrosion, rust etc. Also ask them to assist you in the parking lot as that is a free service they offer.

HOW DO I FIND THE FUSE FOR THE RUNNING LIGHTS

Open the hood of your vehicle and disconnect the battery's negative-terminal cable with a socket wrench.
Remove the cover from the fuse block and locate the high-beam headlamp fuse. Most vehicles have two, one for the right headlamp and one for the left headlamp. For the exact location of the fuse, check through your vehicle's user's guide.
Use a fuse puller tool to remove the high-beam headlamp fuse and install a replacement fuse in its place. Reattach the cover to the fuse block.
Reach behind the high-beam headlamp and disconnect its electrical connector by pulling it straight out. Rotate the old bulb counterclockwise and pull it out to remove it.
Install a replacement bulb and reattach the electrical connector to the headlamp. Consult your vehicle's user's guide for the exact type of bulb to use. Close the hood when done.

How do you replace the drivers side low beam headlight on the 2008 GMC Acadia?

{: ) REMOVE THE LEFT FRONT WHEELHOUSE LINER
The wheelhouse liner is sometimes called the mud guard or the splash shield, whatever.
You may remove the left front tire.

-Start removing all those push pins and #7mm screws. No need to remove the entire liner. You may loosen only the half portion, just enough clearance for your arms to reach inside and aim for the rear of the headlamp.

-Reach for the Headlamp Bulb Accessory Cover. Rotate the cover counterclockwise and remove.

-Release the bulb from the headlamp assembly (turn counterclockwise) Disconnect the electrical connector. Just remember the positioning of the bulb so you can swiftly reinstall a new bulb.

How to change headlight lamp in 2005 Pontiac g6

To change the bulbs you need to first remove the 5 plastic pop screws on the front bumper. They're spread out at the top of the bumper right under the hood. Once you get those out, you have to remove the two hex bolts on each headlight. Then it gets tricky. You need to pull the light towards the front of the car until it pops out of the ball-bearing type mount on the fender. Once that pops out, you have to pull the front bumper forward while maneuvering the headlight out towards the front.

As per the manual it says as follows:---

Open the hood.

Hold the headlamp to prevent damage to the headlamp or to the fascia. Remove the bolts from the headlamp assembly. Remove the push-in-retainers across the front fascia. Remove the headlamp assembly. Lift the headlamp upward to release the locating tab from the front edge of the fender.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp assembly.

Remove the headlamp bulb access cover by rotating the headlamp bulb access cover counterclockwise, if necessary.

Remove the headlamp bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.

Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical connector, if necessary.

Remove the park/turn bulb access cover by rotating the cover counterclockwise, if necessary.

Remove the park/turn bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.

Gently pull the park/turn bulb from the socket, if necessary. Install the park/turn bulb into the bulb socket.

Install the park/turn bulb socket into the headlamp housing by rotating the socket clockwise.

Install the park/turn bulb access cover by rotating the cover clockwise.

Connect the headlamp bulb to the headlamp electrical connector.

Install the headlamp bulb into the headlamp housing. Rotate the socket clockwise until locked.

Install the headlamp bulb access cover by rotating the cover clockwise.

Position the headlamp assembly to the vehicle. Lift the headlamp upward to release the locating tab to the front edge of the fender.

Install the bolts to the headlamp assembly. Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Install the push-in-retainers across the front fascia.

Close the hood.
