Question about 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Intermittent Air Copnditioner on 2002 Sebring

The A/C on my 2002 Sebring has also been intermittent. When it works, it works well, indicating the good freon, and compressor and fan, but then goes out when for no reason. Generally the outages take place when temperatures go above 90, but not always the case.
Other electrical problems with this car occured last summer when the dash lights went out, but this summer they are back on - no problems. Carry pop -up lights in teh car for when this happens again.

I checked all wiring and connections and found nothing that appeared to be loose or damaged or burned in anyway. I did add some freon to it today (8/6)and found some indications of a minor leak but it still had freon. Will test again over the next couple of days.

You might have a faulty wire connector that connects to the compressop from behind. check to see that there is no missing wire or connector housing or for any charing due to overheating.

My engine shakes when in park or when stopped for a red light and sometime shuts off

Sounds like the Engine mounts need to be checked, and/or it has intermittent firing on one or more cylinders. Could be the spark plugs and/or the Fuel injectors need to be cleaned. As the Engine somtimes shuts down, I would suspect the plugs or injectors.

Rapid Continuous Flashing of Air Bag Indicator (No Diagnostic Trouble Code) Both Primary Crash Sensors Disconnected Assembly Plant Mode

TROUBLE CODE CLEARING

1. Follow the diagnostic procedures to service the fault condition flashing on the air bag indicator prior to code clearing.

2. Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then to RUN.

3. Observe air bag indicator prove-out (six ? two seconds) followed by diagnostic trouble code (52-85) flashing completely one time.

4. Locate the Diagnostic "Trouble Code Clear" Connector (grey connector). located underneath the glove compartment, left side (06010) containing Circuits 631 (T/R) and 57 (BK).

5. Use a jumper wire to short Circuit 631 (T/R) to Circuit 57 (BK) or to another good ground. This short must be made after the diagnostic trouble code flashes completely one time, but before the warning light stays on continuously.

6. Hold short until air bag diagnostic monitor tone sounds (approximately five seconds).

7. Release short on Circuit 631 (T/R) to Circuit 57 (BK). This short must be released within 25 seconds after the diagnostic monitor tone sounds.

Diagnostic trouble code is now cleared from memory. Next highest priority diagnostic trouble code stored (if one exists) will begin flashing.

The codes and clearing proceedure above are to be used as a guide, NO claims are implied as to the correctness or accuracy of either.

I have a check engine intermittent light with some shaking in the engine also intermittent, also air bag light comes on intermitently.

Something shaking is almost always a cylinder misfiring.
Which is usually a bad plug or wire. But it could also be an intake manifold vacuum leak.

Diagnostic Aids
  • Low system airflow can cause an intermittent complaint. Inspect for the following conditions:
    • Any restriction in the exhaust system that may produce back pressure
    • Pinched, kinked, restricted, or leaking pipes, hoses, or fittings
    • A restricted pump inlet hose, duct, or filter
    • Pinched, kinked, restricted, or leaking vacuum lines
    • Heat damage
  • A short to voltage in the pump relay control circuit can result in the AIR pump running continuously with the ignition OFF by back-feeding to ground. This will eventually result in pump failure.
  • An AIR pump that had become inoperative and had shown indications of having exhaust gases in the outlet port would indicate check valve failure.
  • Notice Do not operate the AIR pump for more than 60 seconds. Continuous operation of the AIR pump in excess of 60 seconds will damage the AIR pump.

If the DTC cannot be duplicated and is determined to be intermittent, reviewing the Failure Records data can be useful in determining when the DTC was last set. Also refer to Intermittent Conditions
