Yes the brake lights work, and there is not a override button in the console, the owner manual mention something about a relase button from park under de front coffe holder but it didn't work.

I took apart the cup holder and the silver plate around the shifter, I found that the pink part was broken and I moved it forward then could move the shifter from park and drove to the dealer, they said that often happens this problem on Avenger, they replaced the part for free.

I got to resolve the problem, it was a mechanical problem, a pink part under the shifter was broken.

    Thanks

I misunderstood the question, now i see what is happening, this same problem happend to me with a ford probe with a floor shifter, If i am correct your shifter is locked in park, and you are right this is a electrical problem. Check under the hood for a circuit breaker that is burned out , they are usually in a black box under the hood with your secondary fuses. I would be suprised if it is in the small fuse box inside the car, but possible. Hope this helps

I have the same car and problem..if you take apart the cup holder, and the silver plates around the shifter, you'll see bright pink parts. There is pink on the left side and the right side, its probably the right side pink part that broke. If you push that pink part towards the cup holders you can move it out of park. That piece broke and will need to be replaced.

It should be covered under warranty. With the engine running press the brake pedal all the way to the floor and press the shifter button in all the way. Then work the shifter back and forth. If it stil won't shift it's either the interlock switch on the brake light switch, or the shifter solenoid. Take it back to the dealer.

03 chevy venture rt.front parking light&turn light don't work replace bulb&socket

The rapid flashing occurs because of the light problem. If the 20A PARK LP fuse in the underhood fuse block is OK, the front marker lamps and the park lights should turn on when you set the headlamp switch to PARK. If the 10A T/SIG fuse in the instrument panel fuse block is OK, and the ignition switch is on, moving the turn signal multi-function switch to signal a right or left turn should cause the turn signals to flash. If this doesn't happen, check for a missing ground connection to the socket you replaced and check to be sure the replacement lamp was not forced into the socket backwards (it happens).

Don´t despair, it´s a nice car you got there. If it´s still under warranty, it´s probably best just to take it in for a brand repair. You probably have a short circuit within the mirror casing, with a plus cable touching the metal body work. If you take the mirror off by gently pulling it with the help of a plastic ruler, you would probably find the culprit.

Sounds like you may have a blown fuse causing your sifter solenoid not to activate. First check all fuses in car and out.

Check the brake pedal safety interlock. It's electrical & mechanical & often you can have a misadjusted cable or bad solenoid that dis engages the lock. There's a bypass on the gear shift, small slot that the ignition key fits into in order to move the gear selector. Do not turn the key, just insert it & move the selector to neutral, start the car & take it to a repair facility of your choice.
