Question about 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab

1 Answer

97 Dodge 1500 with a pretty bad shaking at lower speeds.

Feel the problem through the truck not through the steering wheel. Rough below 50. Add gas and it smooths out. Running 70 on the intersate with the cruise set it smooths out well.

Shaking at low speed

Does it shake all the time, or only when you use the brakes ?
A slow speed shake without using the brakes is most often a bad tire. The alignment only affects how the car steers.

Steering wheel vibrates when excellerate

if you let off the gas and it stops vibrating, have the cv axles checked. if the steering wheel shakes at parking lot speeds, a tire is bad.

When I get up to speeds over 50 my steering wheel shakes, feels like front end bouncing, when Im at 45 or lower it doesnt do it, what is the problem?

Check the power steering fluid, which i doubt. my only other suggestion is use 93 level gas the high octane should help with the shakes.

My car is shaky every time i hit a stop light?

you should keep all four tires on the ground !!!! LOL ! your rotors or brake pads are bad. do you feel it shake in the steering wheel ? Check these three items and im sure it will fix.......1) jack front car up and try to move front tires in all directions, does it feel loose at all? if yes check tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints. 2) check brake pads for wear, heat from pads warp the rotors and cause the break pedal and steering to shake or vibrate. 3) If nothing can be found wrong with the tie rods or ball joints i recommend changing the rotors and brake pads, a pretty cheap fix.

When i get to the speed of 50 to60 then slow down to about 40 then speed back up to50to 60 the car shakes really bad while pushing on the gas paddle. what could be wrong. thanks for your time

bad worn tires or the transmission is jumping ex your doing 50 to get to 100 kmh the rpms bounce from 1500 to 2300 but no movement till 2500 rpm wich could do that or else you need a front end allignment

My 1996 dodge stratus idles rough, shaking the steering wheel. Also just recently driving my normal comute to college and back which is 40 miles round trip, in turn is now consuming 4 gallons of gasoline....

Seems like we need a tune up . Change the plugs wires, air filter fuel filter. Is the check engine light on. If so have the codes pulled on the car.
