How to check trans.fluid on standard .cant find dip stick.

checking the gear oil on the Manual transmission requires you to get under the car, and about 1/2 to 3/4 way up the side of the transmission, there is an about 1/2" ***** in plug. remove the plug, and stick your finger in the hole. the gear oil should be up to the bottom of that hole to be full. most manual trans use 90 weight gear oil.

How do I check and fill fluids in a 95 dodge Dakota 6 cyl standard transmission?

on the side of the transmission there will be a filler bolt about half way or a little higher up on the transmission. not sure of the size possibly 1/2 or 5/8" wrench will fit, remove and stick your finger in straight then bend finger until you feel oil this will give you an idea or how much oil is there. if you need to add oil fill until the oil just starts to run out the bottom of the fill hole. you should use 80/90 weight gear oil.

What type of gear oil do I use in the transfer case of a 1984 Chevrolet deluxe 4 by 4 manual transmission

I know you stated yours is an '84, but my '85 factory service manual says it should take Dexron II automatic transmission fluid.

If in doubt you could always pull the fill plug, stick your finger into the hole, bending it towards the bottom, pull on your finger and look/smell the fluid. If it looks/smells like automatic transmission fluid then that's what to put in. If it looks/smells like gear lube then that's the fluid to use. UNLESS someone in the past decided it was a good idea to put gear lube in, then all bets are off on the accuracy of the "finger test".

Hope this helps.

Is there a difference between a manual and auto engine in the 1996 toyota camry widebody or is it just in the gearbox

  • Manual and standard are references to the transmission. Manual being where the transmission runs the gears on its own. Standard being a "stick" where the driver switches gears.

  • Hope this helps.

What is automatic transmission?

automatic means the transmission will shift itself when it hits a certain rpm.
A manual transmission means you get to decide when to shift it.
