Question about 2001 Suzuki Esteem
After i replaced the gas cap the light still came on.could there be a hole in one of the lines for the gas filter.what else could i do without buying the part for the car.$250.00 is very expensive for the repair.
From everything I've been told, the check engine light may stay illuminated for a week or more and then may reset itself. It's based on an algorithm of past use and once it senses that the situation has been corrected, it will reset itself. In the case of our Dodge Durango it meant having the Delaer reset it. Some dealers will do it as a courtesy. I did find an article that might interest you...it talks about a way to reset it yourself, but it does come with some caveats, so please read carefully before decing to try it. http://www.auto-facts.org/resetcheckenginelight.html
