Question about 1995 Ford Aerostar

1 Answer

1995 Ford Van 4.0 Eng.. Feel like it is missing a cyl, but all plugs test to be firing. When on open road it will start to tremble when I have to increase speed. Sometimes it idels ok. Sometimes it barely idles, but it never cuts off. Sometime when I accelerate it has to be almost floored to get it to highway speed. I have changed the plugs, plug wires, coil pk and fuel filter. I also added heet 3 times (to take out any water in the tank). Added fuel injector cleaner several times. I am considering changing the fuel pump, but if the fuel pump is not the problem, I don't know what to do next. How could I check to pinpoint the problem without changing more parts?

Do you know the firing order and #1 cyl. on the cap for a 1993 chevy lumina apv van 3.1 eng.

The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6.
When looking at the front of the van, #1 is on the left towards the rear. #2 is on the left towards the front, #3 is in the middle rear, and so on. The distributor rotates clockwise
If #1 terminal is not marked on the distributor, rotate the engine to the timing mark for TDC. At this place, the rotor will point to either #1 or #4. You can assume it's #1 and wire it up. If you're wrong, the engine will not start as all plugs will fire on the exhaust stroke and no harm will be done either. If that os the case, you know you just have to rotate all the wires 3 places.

I have a 1998 ford ranger 4 cyl it misses on #4 cyl I have changed plugs and wires also changed injectors around ( #4and #1 ) still misses on #4 this problem happend sudenly one day it was...

Have a compression test done ,and look for a vacuum leak near the cylinder, like a vacuum hose or intake gasket. If the compression test shows a fluctuation between the 3 and 4 cylinder, then the head gasket would need to be replaced.

What s is the firing order for a 1995 for aerostar van

For the 1995 Ford Aerostar Van:
I do not know if you have the 3.0L V6 or the 4.0L V6; however I have included both below.

For the 3.0L V6
Firing Order:
1-4-2-5-3-6
Cylinders:
......(back)......
|..3..|.......|..6..|
|..2..|.......|..5..|
|..1..|.......|..4..|
.......(front)
Ignition Coil Connections:
(back)
3...4
2...6-This is correct!
1...5
(front)

For the 4.0L V6:
Firing Order:
1-4-2-5-3-6
Cylinders:
........(back)........
|...3...|.......|...6...|
|...2...|.......|...5...|
|...1...|.......|...4...|
.........(front)
Ignition Coil Connections:
..(back)
1...2...3
5...6...4- This is also correct!
..(front)

99 dodge caravan #4 cylinder misfires, i replaced spark plug wires and spark plugs. Scanner showed #4 still misfiring, could this be the coil?

It could very well be a bad coil pack,or you have low compression in that cylinder. If the compression is good then go with the coil pack,if not you may need a head gasket or an intake manifold gasket.

Check to see if your overflow tube againt the fire wall on passenger side is not leaking onto cylinder 4. Pull spark plug boot and make sure it is dry. When the heater core starts going bad it will leak out over flow right there

96 Ford Windstar runs rough, check engine light on

Sounds like you have some EGR ports clogged up, remove the intake and look at the egr ports all but
#1 cyl port will probably be at least partially clogged, hope this helps
