Both uppers are at 12 o clock then there is a notch in crank gear that lines up with notch in block at approx 1 o clock

You really need the Cam Tool that holds the Cams in place from the opposite end of the head as the Pulleys. There is also a Tool to hold the Cam Pulleys as well. IPD sells it for near $280 and that also includes the guides for the Cam Cover and a set up to evenly press the cam cover in place. The Cams will have a groove where the tool holds them and you will need to find out how they are supposed to be set. Just be happy you are not dealing with a Variable Cam Timing set up.

Cams wont turn after replacing headgasket

you need to start over with the timing process the valves are hitting the pistons because the cams are not in time rotate the pistons off tdc by about 90 degrees counterclockwise and reset the cams then turn the engine to tdc and put it together rotate by hand after installation to be sure it turns freely 2 full revolutions of the crank and all the marks should line back up

Do you need special tools to replace timing chain as in the ford engine ,by special I mean holding tools for the cams these cams have marks but do lifters spring back or force you to hold cams in plce...

yes especially if it is a 4.0 sohc engine you will need something like my otc master timing and cam kit to lock and hold cams they do not have keyways cut for camshaft sprockets and when you remove no way to tell where to put back without kits

You will need the manual to see where the timing marks are.The timing marks should have been aligned before you removed the old belt.In short,how to do it is find #1 cyl tdc,both valves closed,look at the camshafts and there will be 2 marks one is marked "E",the othe"I"These 2 marks vary on each engine and its a must to have the correct setting which is only in the manual.With the crank set at TDC,both cams aligned ,then reset your belt.Dont forget to allow for the tensioner when you release the tension as the cams will turn slightly.I would recommend getting the book as you will never get it right without it.For $20,its a good investment

You technically dont have to remove the cams, but besure to check each one at that time and make any adjustments as nescessary.

Ware do i line the timing marks up with

if you have the six there are marks on the cams i belive they point at 10 and 2 facing each other and if you look through the holes in the cam gears there are marks that line up with the marks on the cam then there is a notch in the crank gear that lines up with a dimple in the block(oil pump)if you line cams up before removing belt you should be ok and a tip when you get the belt around the love pulley stick a piece of rubber hose under belt this will prevent the belt from spinning the crank as it is lodged between timing belt and lip on oil pump also prevents belt from jumping teeth so you can get slack to the proper side also the office style paperclips that fold over after clipped to papers these wprk well to hold the belt to the cams so when your fussing with the tensioner the cams wont move and jump time but spin the crank 2 revolutions before tottally reassembling but all your timing marks should line up again

I need a diagram to sincronize the timing belt of my isuzu tropper 3.2 sohc

if this is 6VD1 engine it has single cam gear each head, but is still a 2 cams per head, engine
if belt has broke or you have turned any gear you must remove rocker covers to check positions of camshafts front lobes are in certain spot as well as timming mark on belt driven cam gear to cover
this cam gear is a 3:1 ratio (3 turns of cam gear = 1 turn of cams)

Need to know how to time a 2.0 l dohc ford engine

With the rocker cover removed , if you look at the back of the camshafts you will see each one has an off centre slot. The way to get them correctly lined up is so each slot runs parallel with the face of the cylinder head. There is a special tool to lock the 2 cams together which is simply nothing more than a flat piece of steel. If you can not borrow this 'tool' the other way is to make sure each cam lobe on no4 cylinder is facing down  and pointing in on the valve tappets.

well you need to start from the crank and set that you will see a dot on the bottom gear set it straight up next the cams you have 4 cams all need to be set ok the cams will need to be set as follows the 2 inner cams next to intake manifold should be set at li,ri.........the 2 outer cams set at le,re 90 degrees straight offf the head
