SOURCE: Engine serial number location

Service manual says for six cylinder 3.7, the number is located on the right side of the block near the front. I have been looking myself but havn't found it yet. I havn't found any pic or diagram to show it either. Please have a look and post if you find it.

the engine serial varies by what engines, is there.

the FSM book (factory sevice manual) on call cars. shows this in the first chapter, so you can match up parts that might fit.
why not RTM
posted over 200 times here.

Where is the engine number on the V8 powertech block

is this a 2002 GC? called the WJ jeep (VIN on body tells this)
there CG made in other countries too.
the JG is Export models produced at the plant in Graz, Austria. (for Europe +) and WH, ZG, WG. You can wiki them.... and are made in China too.

so first find out (VIN) what car you have, then find out how they made your engine. (this is a usa forum , and our jeeps are all 100% made here to our laws.)

gov. can be bit wild here.
some engine have no serial here.
Jeep exports cars, and are export certified to comply to AUS.
rules.
I will not guess what V8 that is. (no size stated, ouch)
4.7 L V8 (Powertech) it is. good.
bingo, or WJ made in USA For USA market , the book FSM
shows these facts. (i seached serial on whole book)

Cannot get dateof birth in block

the FSM on all cars shows each engines and where he serial
numbers are located, and how to decode them.
and varies by COUNTRY (LAWS)
some countries, engines are not date stamped. so.....what country.
