Look for a blown fuse. You could have lost a good ground too. Make sure the wire harness connector is seated completely on the back of the instrument cluster.
Have a look at the main wire that comes from the battery, sometimes they run from the battery to a conector that corodes and then you loose all the power to the fuse box, that same bad conection can cause the alternator not to charge the battery and than you replace the alternator not fixing the route cause
