Sad to say but your automatic transmission has bit the dust.

SOURCE: i have a 97 VW Golf auto trans, I have no reverse

Check your fluid level to make sure its up to the specified level, then I'd be checking out your linkage from your shifter inside the car right to the transmission, it sounds like to me your linkage may be worn enough to put the vehicle in drive but not reverse. The linkage bushings are a common problem on vdubs. See if you can put the car in reverse by moving the linkage arm directly attached to the transmission (make sure you have someone in the car with the brakes on or caulk the wheels) if it does go into reverse when you manually move the direct linkage arm at the transmission then replace your linkage bushings, if not then the only other problem would be a transmission internal problem. Good luck

SOURCE: turbo 350 trans no forward gears but does have reverse

It's either your servo, or your bands.
Either way, the tranny needs a good cheap shop repair.
I'd just get a warrantied salvage yard tranny if I were you and save a few hundred bucks.

SOURCE: 98 vw beetle wont go in reverse

I have a 1998 and I just confronted the same problem. It seems to take like 1 gear in reserve and like 2 gear in 1 gear. Any thoughts? I don't really it should be the transmission since it still works going forward in 2 different gears. Thanks.

It appears to be a known issue. You need a transmission specialist.

Why wont my 96 honda accord go into reverse it is a stick shift

With the engine off, can you put it in reverse? Can you put the clutch in and keep it in reverse, then start it, and it moves back? If you can, but can't get it into reverse again with the engine running, either the clutch isn't adjusted properly, or the clutch has oil on it and is dragging. Reverse has no syncro's, those are the things in the transmission that help it shift. All the forward gears have syncro's so they can kind of tolerate when the clutch isn't right, they will still go into gear. But reverse needs the clutch to work properly.

Automatic transmission of toyota sera i couldn't move reverse it gets stuck rest is fine

It may be due to:
- Maladjustment of the gear lever cable or selector assembly.
- Valve body assembly.
- Planetary gear unit.
- Reverse clutch.

96 ROVER DISC. Has strong reverse - won't engage any forward gears. Fluid seems full even when warm.

Make sure the 4wd shifter is in correct position and hasn't slipped out of correct spot to get you moving forward.

'96 Toyota Land Cruiser (LX 450)- Power Seats won't go in reverse

Well what I saw when I pulled my seats out of my 97 LC was that the worm gear on the bottom of the track had lost some tread.  (its plastic)  also, there is a cap that screws in to the end of that gear to hold it in place, so when you reverse the seat, the gear moves if that cap falls out of place ----small plastic cap fell out in mine.  The whole rail system is like $300 at Toyota but i found a website that sells the cap and the gears for $20.  I will try to post it tomorrow-for the time being, you can take the seat out -be sure to unplug the electronics, and use a wrench to manually move the seat back and then put it back into place
