Question about 2008 Chevrolet Impala

2 Answers

I can't start my car and it clicks once when tried.

I try to start it and the car clicks and the clock reset one time. I tried to jump the car with a friend and the negative cable on my car started to glow from something. Could it be the starter or battery or the alternator or a bit of all three?

If your negative cable was glowing, i would have to say the battery is shorting out somehow. It has to be under warranty... right? Tell them to send a tow truck.

Wow!!! Normally clicking when starting means dead battery. If the cables started glowing / getting hot, you hooked them up wrong.

Battery dead - car will not start or be jumped started

Change the battery. Newer batteries sometimes go all at once, and are so dead even a jump start won't work. It has happened to me twice. Once you put in the new battery check the alt output with a volt meter should read about 14.5 volts at the battery. If it does problem solved just reset the clock, radio etc.

Car has trouble starting. Does not click, does not turn over. After key is pulled from ignition, all gauges flip up and then back to normal simultaneously

It may be as simple as cleaning the battery cables.Having the clock reset shows a complete loss of voltage at one point. How old is the battery?
