2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 makes a whistling sound when accelerating onto the highway. When I finally come to a stop ir turn off car there's a burning rubber smell from rear end

Ok I think your spindle bushings in the rear are broken the squealing is from the tire rubbing against either the strut or rear control arm with the car on the ground look at the wheel to see if it A ) is leaning in on top from the rear of the vehicle B) turning inwards from either the front or the back the spindle has a front/rear bushing on it C) or the rear control arms have a bad bushing or are bent did you hit anything or drive off a curb or slide into an object in the rain like a curb then this is it look at the tire for wear marks it will point you to the possible contact points D) the rear wheel bearing/hub may be loose or shot causing the wheel to lean inwards E )the rear strut on that side has failed making the body dip down as well as the stabilizer link and the tire is contacting the spring seat or the inner fender F) also there is rear wheel alignment settings that are out from all described above but if you drive normal and it has stock tires on it then it's a bushing or arm that's doing it you must go to the rear and feel for excessive heat on the tires so you know which or both wheels to check

What would make a rocker arm a little loose

rain water will not get into the oil unless you had the rocker cover off and working on the engine outside in the rain.
water in the oil is coolant getting into the oil either from a head gasket problem or corrosion holes behind the water pump impeller. If there are loose rockers when running then there may be a blockage in the hydraulic followers for those rockers or there is wear in the rocker bushes and on the rocker shaft.

1996 4.3 wont start untin you prime with gas then it runs great

4.3 what make? Priming with gas does what the choke should be doing, so my guess is that the choking system does not work.
Does your car have a carburettor or does it have fuel injection? There are 2 kinds of injection - via injectors or via manifold. These usually don't give hassles unless there is a problem with the temperature sensor.
If your car has a carburettor, it could be the automatic choke is not working properly. This is the little round gizmo attached to the side of the carb secured with a ring and three screws.
Take off the air cleaner, look into the venturi and take note of the position of the choke butterfly valve - that's the one mounted on a shaft that goes into the middle of the auto choke unit.
With the three screws loosened, not removed, slowly turn the outer cap and see what the butterfly does. Do this while the engine is cold. The butterfly should be just closed, maybe slightly on the open side. Now tighten the three screws on the pinch ring and that should fix your problem.
The auto choke has a bimetal spring inside that round plasticky thing that operates the choke butterfly. As hot gases from the exhaust heats up the spring, it opens the choke. Check that this spring, situated inside the round gizmo, is not broken.
Hope this helps.

Replacing windshield wiper bushing nissan altima 99

This bushing is a pain to install, i have done many of these and end up messing them up before i get one on, to tell you the truth it does not last.I have tried to save customers money by installing the bushing and it comes back to bite me, they get mad because the wiper linkage fell off again in the rain, the sad part was that they were advised that the fix may not hold but they agreed to it to save money, i then found out that the linkage arm could be replaced , it only costs 12.00.
there are many auto part stores that sell it even the dealer, Dorman is one company, you can google it.
The way i get these bushings on it by applying a little grease around bushing and then with two sockets and a vise, i then press bushing into arm. good day hope this is helpful.

My gas pedal is sticking on my 2002 buick lesabre

Remove the plastic shroud which covers the engine. This can easily be done by unscrewing the oil fill spout (the 3-inch extension onto which the oil filler cap fits) by unscrewing it a half turn and lifting it out. This exposes the fuel injector body and mechanism.

Remove the rubber boot between the air box and the fuel injector body, then locate the "screen" which covers the intake. The screen should be held on by a "C" shaped ring, remove this then work the screen out. It's a little tricky to get out but it's not impossible. Spray some WD-40 (or other lubricant) on the butterfly shaft bushings and this should fix your problem.

1999 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 LT: truck idles perfect and runs decent when cold. It's been heating to operating temp a little quicker than normal, but not overheating. When it's hot, it's real suggish and...

do you have a distributor on your truck you might want to replace the cap and rotor button. I would also get some throttle body cleaner and clean the butterfly valve use a papertowel to clean around where the valve wipes the sides it can get stickey and you will have slow response there is an electronic sensor tps witch moves with the petal and controlls everything for acceleration. you should also check your pcv valves they are little rubber hoses that goe from your valve cover to the air intake . I have a 2006 silverado and the temp gauge was bad make sure after about ten minutes the engine should be around the 210 or almost vertical if not replace your temp sensor located on the driver side under the brake master cylinder between the last two spark pluge it is brass in color and has a wire conector going to it . it will cause your truck to run cold and make it run rich and that will foul up your catalitic converter and all four 02 sensors cost me around 500 dollars to fix my self had to get through emmisions here in maryland well hopes this helps please leave feed back.

52 plate BMW 320td compact front wheels wande on rough suface or ruts up to 40mph after that ok tracking done, suspension arms done can it be hard pofile michelin tyres. Also fuel consumption not good...

You say the suspension arms were done. Does that mean that you replaced the front control arms and got both new ball joints and a new control arm bushing on each side?
I presume that they checked for excessive play in the bearings at the tops of the struts while they had the control arms off?
Are we talking about following rain grooves cut in the pavement, or about following seams and traffic grooves? Following rain grooves is a trait of the tires. Following major seams and grooves is usually control arm bushings. If it is still unacceptable with new rubber bushings, you may want to try polyurethane control arm bushings. Poly bushings are getting popular among BMW owners for exactly this reason.
BMW uses firm control arm bushings on M3s, but very soft control arm bushings on everything else, even when they install optional 'sport' suspension.

03 jetta heater

Sure sounds like a blend air door problem. The rotary temperature knob moves a cable that moves the blend air door. There is a bushing in the housing that likes to break and will either leave the door closed no heat or open heat when a/c is on. TSB 8506-01 covers this problem.

Affected Vehicles
Condition
HVAC, Temperature Output Control Cannot Be Adjusted
Customer states cannot adjust temperature and/or A/C is not cold.
Technical Background
The blend door control lever moves freely, but the blend door does not operate.

4148ac5.jpg

A bushing that fits on the lever may have a broken tab/clip, -arrows-, as shown.
This tab/clip may cause the bushing to fall out of the fresh air housing which can result in the door becoming inoperative and result in undesired air temperature.
Production Solution
No production change required.
Service Procedure
Tip:
In the past the entire fresh air housing was replaced because the bushing was not available as a separate part. The bushing is now available as a separate part.
The bushing can be accessed from under the center console.

^ Remove the panels near the foot wells at the passenger side of the console, -arrows-, as shown.
See Repair Manual, Body-Interior, Repair Group 68 - Interior Equipment for removal procedure.

^ This will expose the location of the control lever, -arrow-, as shown.

^ Re-bolt a new bushing onto the lever, -arrow-, as shown.
^ Re-insert the bushing with lever onto the blend door until it is firmly secured in the housing.
Tip:

A mirror can be used to aid in identifying the orientation of the blend door when re-securing the bushing in the fresh air housing, -arrow-, as shown.
^ Reinstall panels.

Hope you are good at working in tight spots and with mirrors. I just did this job 2 weeks ago. It took 1 hour and was really a pain in the B==t working upside down with a mirror through a 1 inch hole. Hope this helps and Good Luck Happy New year and thanks for using FixYa.
