Question about 2003 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

Service traction System Light

I recently took off 20" rims from my '02 impala, which I thought was the problem, but doing this I've seen an increase in the problem. The Service Traction System Light is constantly on, along with the ABS light and the Trac Off light. Also, when I make mostly left turns i tend to hear a "grinding" noise and some rejection in the brake. It wont let me press down completely, and if it does it slips and continues to make the noise. Any advice?

02 impala gas mileage between 10-13. Abs/ traction control lights on... ac also blows only cool on passenger side. Hot on driver side... already tried charging worked only for a few minutes. ..HELP

Abs and traction control work with each other. You have a fault in one of the system need to get scanned. The a/c have a blockage in system or maybe a leak. The gas mileage probably has to do with abs/traction control

Traction control and abs warning light comes on,how do I fix??

the ABS system is defective, probably one or more of the sensors.

Traction control system works with the ABS sensors to monitor to monitor traction slippage.

Service traction system

Don't mess with the ABS light get it diagnosed and fixed. Your brakes will work with the ABS light on but you will skid because the system will switch to basic hydraulic action with no control of how much to each wheel. If ABS is on then it is not working.

My service traction system light comes on my 2005 chevy impala

it needs to be scanned , most likely the light is on because of a faulty speed sensor

Traction light on , reduce engine power lights on 07 ss impala what does that sound like .

I know this is not a solution but I too started having this same problem today. Start car, runs normal then all the sudden it feels funny, traction control light blinks on and dash displays service traction control-reduced engine power. This causes my car to sputter like it is going to stall I have to pull over and turn my car off and back on to drive off (only for it to do it within the next 10 minutes). I thought turning TC off would work for now just to drive it, no not successful stil does it : ( I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD IT SCANNED HAD A CODE FOR GROSS EVAC LEAK AND SOMETHING ABOUT THE THROTTLE PLATE/BODY NOT SURE IF THAT IS RELATED BUT THAT ALL THE INFO I HAVE ON THAT.

Service Traction System Light

Remove any and all abs fuses for ten minutes then put them back. I think that will work. It will not reset if battery is disconected so it will keep memory of problems. In case battery is unhooked.

2001 Impala No trac and ABS light on. Is this a dangerous problem?? Will the brakes stop working, or will it be ok until I can get it serviced?

In the hub-bearing assembly (the part that the tire bolts on to and allows with tire to spin) there are sensors, they can and do fail. Also the wiring and connections can fail also. The only consequences of this problem being not fixed is that the ABS will not work (the breaks won't "pulse" when you start to skid) but you will still have breaks they will just work like regular conventional breaks that can lock the wheels, like in the cars of yore. Traction control will not work either, neither are serious but annoying. And the obvious the "service traction system" message will come up in the info box, the "traction off" light will be on and the "abs" light will be on. My dad's 02 impala has the same problem. A gm computer scanner can diagnose where the culprit lies. Good luck -Mike

Service traction system message on dash

This light is usually caused by a problem in the ABS system. A problem in the ABS system will dissable the traction control system. you will need to have the computers scanned for trouble codes.
