My 1983 mustang is doing the same thing. Only gets spark when u turn key on or off. My brother is a mechanic and told me theres a control module or sensor in the distributor. Try buying a new one that should help. There expensive but i replaced everything also and cant find the problem.

DId you check your distributer out? Not the Cap but the main distributer itself.

How to change ignition control modular

there are three types you need to know what one it is, one type is on the dispack and the other 2 fit to the distributor one type has 3 connectors and other type has 1 connector, dispack best just to change the whole unit as the pins can brake if you remove the modular of it.

Sounds like you replaced alot of parts for nothing.
The pickup coil in the distributor "fires" the module which grounds the coil and the injectors.
Those components would need to be tested. The coil fires the plugs when the ground is removed by the module or the key switch.

Why wont it spark

Someone needs to check for voltage at the coil and the distributor.
The pickup coil in the distributor tells the coil when to fire.
If you are getting spark at the coil tower but not at the plugs, check the cap and rotor.

I know I'm getting fuel and I know I'm getting spark to the coil ,but no spark to the plugs, I changed the cap and rotor and still nothing, could it be ignition control module?

Disconnect power to the coil. Take cap off. See if rotor is turning while cranking engine. If not, you most likely have a broken cam gear or timing chain.

There may be no injector pulse if the computor does not see a RPM signal.
There will be no spark if the ignition module does not see a dist pulse from the dist pickup.......a RPM signal.
Because you do not have both ......I would suggest to check/change the dist pick up.
Follow the wires from the ignition module inside the dist to the pickup which is also inside the dist.
If it is just a bad dist pickup....keep all your old parts as good spares.
Also...is the dist turning? to provide a RPM signal?
You will have to remove the dist to change the pick-up.....mark your timing locations......"rotor position" and "dist body location"before removal.
A quick test before installing the "repaired dist" .....plug it in the the truck wiring and turn on the key....DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DIST ROTOR CORRECT POSITION......as you spin the dist by hand .....the injectors should spray.

No spark from ignition module on hot start

No spark. I have changed out the distributor cap, rotor, wiring from coil to cap, and coil was replaced. I checked the distibutor by turning ignition key and observing the rotor turn. What else can I check. I did not observe a module.
