If it goes away and comes back it is a problem with your gas cap most likely. Every time you fill up the tank. If you notice that it goes away or comes back after filling up then replace the cap.

Check Engine Light appeared; diagnostics resulted in PO455 code

If you Googled the code, you would find you
have an Evap System Gross Leak

If the gas cap was just loose the light will go out

The evap monitor only runs every few days,so
you may have to wait & see

I think you need to smoke the system & find the
route cause,vent solenoid,pressure solenoid,etc

Service engine light soon is on, code P0455

P0455 Gross leak detected. This is no gas cap you have a EVAP vent solenoid failure which is a normally on and off solenoid, This failure is very common on your make and model. thats why you have that rough idle at start up, this is located under the vehicle left rear. The valve failed mechanically.

"service engine soon" light came on while driving on interstate. had the code checked by autozone (P0455) which indicated evap problem, check fuel cap. found cap to be loose but after several days...

Usually takes quite a few starts before it will erase/reset itself, such as 50 on some vehicles. Can always return to autozone and ask to scan and erase, then see if it comes back.

Most likely an evap system fault code stored in engine computer. Best bet and cheapest thing is go to the dealer and buy a new cap. Install the cap and drive the car for a few days if the light goes off, your all set, if not you need to check for codes. Then probably find a leak or a faulty evap vent valve or purge valve.

Three evap lights keep failing therefore I cannot get it inspected,,,What can be the problem?

Most likely it is a cracked or broken vacuum line in the evap system, or the evap solenoid is not working, once in a while it is the evap canister itself, but not very often. Also make sure the fuel cap is good and closed tightly and is the proper one for your vehicle. (a fuel cap that does not seal will cause an evap leak)

Check the vacuum lines and inspect them carefully.

This is a closed system and any vacuum leak that causes the evap system to loose vacuum, or not to hold a specified vacuum for a specified amount of time, will register as a data trouble code (DTC) and the malfunction indicator light (M.I.L.) (check engine light, or service engine soon light) will be turned on.

P0440 code on 2002 PontiacGrandPrix

There could be a few things wrong, this is a problem in the evap system, the evap system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicles fuel system, try taking your gas cap off and putting it back on, reset the code and drive the car for a few days, it's not uncommon for the gas cap to give off this code. if the code comes back after a few days of driving then the problem go'es a little deeper than the gas cap, it could be a bad purge solenoid, or a plugged carbon canister, among other things, also look for damaged or disconnected hoses around the purge sloenoid, you might have to check for leaks in the hoses in the evap system, i hope this helps you find the problem, good luck.

Service engine soon light came on, the codes was p0335 and p0455

Code 455 happens when the gas cap is loose or gone. Replace the gas cap. To get the service engine light to turn off you need to reset the computer by unhooking one of the battery cables and then reattaching it.
