The smoke is coming from the front of the engine below my handlebars; I can't tell if its around or at the area where my exhausts connect. It never did this before and I only drove it around the block and home then noticed the smoke. I had it parked for about a week waiting on my ignition switch (now that is changed this issue is occurring.) I am curious could this be a coolant level issue or i was told check the oil? is there anything else I should check for?
SOURCE: Rough idle, no power, steamy exhaust
The answer was the plug top coils. The plugs and coils were replaced and the car is fine. The steam was not steam - it was white smoke from the catalytic converters. No mayo in the oil and no coolant level drop should have eliminated the head gasket. The steam turned out to be a red herring.
SOURCE: White smoke from Exhaust
hardly likely the exhaust job would cause that, but yes it sounds like you got a blown head gasket. badl lock stricks hmm! also preasure test cylinder head for leaks

Would guess there is a high liklihood that you splashed some water off of the road onto a hot engine, hot exhaust, etc. Keep an eye on it for a day or two, but if you don't see the steam on a dry day, and your coolant level is stable, relax.

Ekun,
What you're describing is a blown head gasket or a cracked head. What's happening is the gasket or head is letting coolant get into the combustion chambers of the engine, producing your white smoke, and accounting for your coolant loss. You need to take it in to get checked out; often times if the head warped or something, it will need to be machined. This is something that's urgent; you can ruin your engine quickly running it this way. For future reference for you, here's the different smokes you will see and what causes them. White smoke-coolant in the combustion chambers, caused by leak in head or head gasket. Blue smoke-oil in combustion chambers, can be caused by worn, broken, or weakened piston rings, faulty PCV valve, worn valve guides. Black smoke-engine running too rich, and unburned fuel is escaping. I hope you get it fixed soon, those 3-series are great cars....mine's been awesome.

SOURCE: Oil level low light comes on. When I turn
some cars with oil level warning light on, it doesn't mean that its only reading the engine oil level is low, sometime the transmission fuid too. Did you check your transmission fluid if it is ok or not? try to check and let us know, ok.
