the maf sensor will be on one of these locations: attached to the airbox, plugged into the hose connecting the airbox, or on the throttle body itself. anyway should have a 2 or 3 wire plugon it

insuffuficient flow... if its referring to airflow start with checking the air box and the air hoses the ones leading to and from the airbox for any kind of blockage, if the car has a map sensor(it should have one) check the vacuum line connected to it for wear and have it checked(it will probably be cheap to go to your salvage yard and get one from the same year to see if that is the problem)thatll save you the money from actual diagnostic computer checks.

even though its clean the egr valve could be malfunctioning you can usually find a more cost efficient one at a salvage yard to see if it needs to be replaced, although its not a 100% guarntee that it is good but its an option there is usually a sensor built in but there are some that are seperate from the valve ill let you know shortly

the top of the egr is usually sealed like i said earlier the best thing to do is to find one at your local salvage yard and replace it.

Why would my car not pass Georgia Emissions testing?

Can you remember how many miles you have driven since the engine was installed? What I mean is that if you have a good running engine and have a new converter, sometimes the easiest things are the ones overlooked. Check your air filter to make sure it isn't dirty and restricting air flow. Also check your spark plugs to see what kind of shape they are in and if they are burning clean. Spark plugs can tell a lot. If you had transfered any emission related parts from the old engine to the new, maybe one of those items has an issue or is clogged. I hope this helps. Good luck.

2004 porsche cayenne i reset computer and now it will not start

Clearing Codes, clears all data, then all the emission
monitors have to run again, or you won't be excepted
to inspection

Clearing codes & data, has nothing to do with diagnosing
why you got the fault codes & fixing the problems

How would clearing a dash light help pass inspection?

Before you got down the street two houses, the light would
be back, the car has a failed system ,thus the light on the
dash after the motor is started.

You cleared all data, now a shop can't even work on it
You removed all vehicle history & codes

Flat bed it to a shop & they will make the repairs you neglected
to do, while trying to get hundred miles before the parameters
on a failed system went out of range & the dash light came back

Need to study OBD 2 Systems on the internet & leave the vehicle
work to the pros

Car wont pass emissons testing

The check engine light issue could be a faulty dash bulb or consul. It looks like you could do worse than get your car checked out on a diagnostic consul.

Failing that, emissions failure is usually a fault of the engine not running at optimum. Is the air filter clean, air temperature sensors clean. Finally take it out for a good run to burn of any residues before checking emissions.

I have a 2004 that did not pass the state of Illinois emission test.
The code came back 0711. The check engine light comes on
occassionally but will go out and won't come back on for weeks at a time. Does anyone have a clue?

My 97 lumina didnt pass the emissions. my hc ppm is 60 limit 57, co% 0.27 limit 0.32 and no ppm 820 limit 421. i have 325km on the car. what can i do to lower these numbers?

Start with the simple and replace the air filter, PVC valve and clean the Throttle body with throttle body cleaner and very important that you clean the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. This should get your car to pass the emission since it was not to far off and make sure the engine is at operating temperature. If the engine is running on the cold side you may have to replace the thermostat, A cold engine will run richer then a engine running at the operating temperature. Good luck and it's best to have the E-test right after you go for a drive to heat up the engine. Merry Xmas

My 2002 Grand Prix GT 3.8L Won't pass emissions. Testing center's scanner says car was recently worked on and that the mileage driven since is not enough to recycle check engine light. The ck eng. light...

Nope, you just need more miles. When the car's computer has been disconnected from power (such as when the battery is unhooked), it'll set what are called "readiness codes" when power is reapplied. It takes a certain number of miles to clear these - some cars require 50 miles, some 100 miles, and some (such as some Isuzu models) need very specific drive cycles to clear them. Once the requisite number of miles have been driven without issues, the readiness codes will extinguish and your car should pass.
