Question about 1999 Chrysler Sebring

99 sebring won't crank

My car is a 99 sebring convertible and it died while going down the road, it won't even turn on the fuel pump or activate the starter relay, but it seems kinda strange as it died while driving so i don't think it is the ignition switch. and all the other electronics seem to work fine, the mileage pops up correctly and everything however it says "no bus" in the digital readout and there are no bad fuses. i have tested the starter and auto shut off relays and checked connections to everything, what would stop it from even turning the engine?

I would lean towards looking over the fuses again, that sounds like it would be caused more from a fuse than anything.Did you check both fuse locations?

Recently had the same problem, wire chaffing near the starter caused a short. of the positive and ground wire to the each other and the frame. Locate that and repair with electric tape and a piece of vacuum hose split open long ways to put the wires inside and prevent reoccurring chaffing. Also a massive failure of the starter relay ground connection was found by removing the relay and shinning a flash light down the connector ports. I removed the red plastic top shield and fashioned a metal support to hold the connector in position. The no-bus warning and all the gauges began to function again. Just a simple check before spending lots of money on ECM or TCM. Tomorrow I will replace the Speed sensors. hope that fixes the Speedometer. Its always something simple, when a shop has replaced expensive parts they still have to fix the real problem after-wards and charge the customer for that time as well. Steve E

On the fuel rail there is a shrader valv, push it down while some one is cranking and see if you have any fuel, if not then I suspect that the fuel pump is dead.

The fuel pump is in the gas tank. but the next time it dies you might want to check and see if it has spark. If it don't it could be a problem with the crank sensor and then you would have replaced the fuel pump for nothing. Good luck

you have a bad fuel pump or a bad ingtion coil and both can be tested, and they should of thrown a code if notthing you can be assured it's the fuel pump. and it can be tested. and ifthey read the soft codes they will know what happened.

Car dies while driving

HI. this is a fuel filter issue. would have it replaced asap if possible. you should also, purchase a fuel additive to flush out the fuel injectors and fuel lines as well. Sea foam is a very good fuel system additive.

Due to the fact that this car is a 1999 model, i would change the fuel pump as well. this is good preventive maintenance.

One more thing, if you have not had a full scale tune up recently or, in the last 10,000 miles, i suggest scheduling one soon.

My truck 99 ford ranger died while driving down the road

fuel filter usually dont cause it to die and not start back, thay usually cause rough running. see if your fuel pump is running by getting in and roll up all windows so as quite as possible then cycle the key from off to run and lisen for the pump to run for 2 to 3 seconds should be a faint buzz sound if no sound is heard then replace the fuel pump relay, if no help probably going to need fuel pump

Still dies

Have you checked out the fuel pump? Check the fuel pump because Ford did put out bad pumps. My 99 did a similar problem of stalling and or shutting off when on inclines or declines. Turned out that 3 out of the 4 welds broke on the fuel pump in the tank and caused the rubber line to pinch and starve the motor of gas.
