Question about 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Truck

1 Answer

A/C is blowing less than normal

Just happened today; A/C blowing at about a 3rd of normal output, regardless of what it's set on (floor, recirculate, etc). No obvious problems I can determine. Halp!

Inside cab blows out hot air controls are off but air still comes out

OUTSIDE AIR: Press this button to direct the system to use outside air.
Pressing the OUTSIDE AIR button will cancel the RECIRCULATION button.

RECIRCULATION: Press this button to limit the amount of outside air entering your vehicle.
This is helpful when you are trying to limit odors entering your vehicle or attempting to quickly cool down the interior. Pressing RECIRCULATION will recirculate air continuously.

RECIRCULATION is used when the fan control is OFF to limit odors, outside air and dust from entering your vehicle. All button lights will go off. The last setting selected will activate when the blower is turned back on.
Pressing the RECIRCULATION button will cancel the OUTSIDE AIR button. To return to normal operation and to prevent stale air, be sure to return the OUTSIDE AIR.

Between HEATER and BLEND mode, outside air is forced to reduce window fogging. If the RECIRCULATION button is pressed, the LED indicator will flash three times indicating that forced outside air is activated and RECIRCULATION is not available.

I think what your experiencing is normal. If you want to keep cold air form coming into the cabin, press the recirc button.

I hope this helped, icon_e_biggrin.gif

you have a leak in the vacume line from the engine to the selector. the doors that move to select where to blow/suck air are moved by vacume created by your engine. this hose is cracked somewhere.

A/c vents not working right

I would make sure you don't have the air blowing out on the floor setting and recirculating. Some vehicles pull air in from floor setting when you set them on recirculate and this causes obvious issues. Might also check your "cabin" air filter, this is different from the engine air filter. Most general repair manuals will tell u where it's located and your local car parts store might also be able to help you find your vehicle's filter location. Your blower fan might also be getting worn out but I would save that for your last check. If the air just isn't cold enough all the time u probably just need to recharge your freon. Hope this helps.

Air conditioner is not blowing out vents only thru defrost

you still have a vacuum problem... there is a 3rd vacuum door that controls inside or outside air. It is normally set to **** in outside air. When you put it on "max" the 3rd door closes off the outside air and make the fan **** "recirculation" air from inside. That door is somewhere by the passenger side feet. VAacuum loss could be in the selector knob contol system, or a hose

Climate controls

recirculation mode only switches the system from inside or outside air......if it only blows out the defrost the vacuum supply is bad....if its stuck on the floor it can be a bad actuator or control head
