The lines cannot be twisted, it will cause a restriction. you will need to properly route them.

1996 chevy cavalier and 2001 chevy cavalier fuel pump interchageable

In the book a 96 model only fits 96-98 cars.
But the actual pump may be the same. You get an assembly including float and lines when you buy a new part.
You may be able to look at a new assembly for each year and tell if the actual pumps are the same style.

2000 Chevy Cavalier. Fuel Pump gone bad?

If you are not a handy person this job could be very difficult. Most of these fuel pumps are in the gas tank. If you can remove the fuel line somewhere in the engine compartment & turn on the key you will be able to see if the pump is working properly. It's about a $500.00 repair.

I have a 2000 chevy cavalier not starting, had fuel pump changed 3 weeks ago and worked fine until this morning at that time i also changed spark plug wires and plugs and today changed the ingnition coils

i will try to help. with the key in the on position, do you hear the fuel pump humming? that is a must!! you may have to turn the key on and of for 15 second intervals to hear it for sure. if the fuel pump is humming, that means it's at least pumping. you'll need to narrow your search to this, is it getting fuel? or is it getting fire? that will narrow the search field. if it's getting fuel, but no fire, have you checked the crankshaft sensor? have you also checked all the fuses in the black box under the hood?when you changed the coils did you get everything plugged back in correctly? jusy trying to cover some bases with you. hope this helps!! thank you for choosing fixya.com

Replace fuel pump on a 2001 chevy cavalier

First, if your car still runs, pull the fuel pump relay, and start your car, letting it run until it dies. This will depressurize the fuel system. Then you must support the fuel tank, and take loose the straps that hold it up. Slowly lower the tank until you can unhook the tank filler hose and overflow hose by taking the clamps off and sliding the hoses off. lower it some more, and unhook the fuel lines; they require you to insert a special tool around the edge of the connection, however this can be improvised with screwdrivers or a piece of plastic or metal bent into a C shape. Next unhook the wire connection. Once you get it down, it's easiest to empty as much fuel as you can; as this will help you get it back into place. The fuel pump is inside the tank, which locks into place with a 1/8th turn. You will need a hammer and a brass punch for this job, as it needs to be tapped around to unlock. It will then lift out. Compare the two pump assemblies. The inside parts can be slightly different, but ensure that the fuel lines are IDENTICAL and the wire connection is IDENTICAL. The new one will come with a new silicone seal. Ensure that you don't put the new one in in such a way as the float doesn't bind, otherwise you'll be doing this procedure again if you don't like guessing how much gas you have. This can be a challenge to wrestle with putting the new one in, as you have to push it down to compress the new seal, and turn it to lock it. Once you get it started, you can let up and use the hammer and punch again to tighten it the rest of the way. Next, put it back together just as you took it apart, and don't forget to hook up the wires, hoses, and fuel lines. No tools required for the fuel lines, they just snap together. Once everything's tight and hooked up, put gas back in it, and if you haven't already, put the fuel pump relay back in. This you can do as soon as the car dies, and is completely optional if the car won't run at all. You are now ready to start it up, but turn the ignition on to the run position, wait a few seconds for the pump to pressurize, and then start it. Have fun, and feel free to ask any questions should you have any.

2000 Chevy Cavalier will not start after accident

there is a g force sensor in the fender. there is a fuel shutoff system in place to shut off the fuel pump in case of an accident on most newer cars.
i would call gm and ask if that is the case with your car.
same thing applies if the airbags are deployed.

oh ok this is simple u need to put a new fuel filter on there it has a bad fuel filter on there try that out if not it is the fuel pump but try the fuel filter after that and the fuel pump if it still has a problem it is the gauge and try to put mid grade cause it causes less break downs for your car cause it doesnt mess up ur fuel filter

Cavalier dies

you need to find the fuel pressure release around the fuel rail press the little tab when the car dies. If there is no fuel coming out from that point, your fuel pump is going.
