If it doesn't turn over check the battery cables and recharge the battery. If the battery is fully charged the cables are clean and tight and it still won't turn over, remove and test the starter. If it turns over but doesn't start you have to test for spark and fuel. Put some gasoline in an old clean dish soap bottle (or similar squirt bottle) and spray some gas past the throttle body plates, then reconnect the rubber air inlet duct to the throttle body and try starting. If it starts and then stalls, then the fuel pump isn't working. Check the fuse, relay and pump. If there's no spark check for power to the coils. No power means you have a problem with either the theft deterrent system, the ignition switch, crank position sensor or the computer. Look and see if the theft deterrent system light is on when your trying to start it. If the theft light is on then you need a new key or ignition cylinder. Sometimes wiping the key with some rubbing alcohol, and squirt some in the ignition cylinder (you can use lock de-icer as it's just alcohol) will make it easier for the key chip to be read. And if you have two sets of keys try the other set. Power to the coils but not starting may be from corrosion between the coil pack and the metal ground plate underneath it (remove the coils and clean the metal base with steel wool, spay some silicone or WD40 on the metal to prevent more corrosion before reassembling) If that doesn't work you'll need a new coil pack.

Engine cranks but won t start

engine cranks but won't run may be caused by either fuel delivery or ignition issue. are you sure when you had the motor rebuilt that the shop put the cam and crank on correct engine timing?

Won't start

Check for power on the small wire at the starter with the key in the crank position. If there is no power than you will need to trace the circuit. A Year, make, model, and engine size would help a lot!!

My 2001 Chevy Malibu won't start.. in September if

sometimes the new fuel pump goes bad, it does happen, if you disconnect the fuel line @ engine and hold it in a can or bottle, have an assistant crank engine, but do not start it, if you have gas coming out, your pump is working, careful , it will come out fast !!!!!!!!!!!! have a rag ready. now you can move on to find the real problem.

My car won't start

I am not sure about restart the engine, but I would check the crankshaft sensor or the crankshaft pulley...

When a crankshaft sensor has failed or is failing, certain timing problems will arise in engine function. The engine may start normally in some cases, but will cut off after a few minutes (or seconds) of operation. More than likely the engine will be unable to start at all. Since the crankshaft sensor is responsible for engine timing, the driver may experience engine backfire or irregular rpm function, if the vehicleicon1.png starts at all.

I have a 2002 Toyota corolla T sport 1.8 and have just had the engine rebuilt but it keeps blowing the 15 amp audio fuse under the bonnet, have tried putting a big amp fuse in and still blows. Car starts...

Who installed the engine? If you did, check all the Grounds/Earths under the hood/bonnet. If the mechanic/shop did, take it back and have them fix it.

Engine died & wont start no spark ignition coil tested good

try your ignition module in the distributor much more likely. just install rebuilt distributor if that is the problem , if you just replace module the main distributor assem will **** out shortly after.
Make sure you check for broken timing belt also it is one of those two!

Starting issue with BMW 740iL

this problem is caused by burnt contacts in the starter motor solenoid, this is part of the starter, the solenoid can be replaced separately but most people opt for a rebuilt starter
