Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer
My power winder for the left front and right back doors just stopped working suddenly. I have been told it may be the fuses are blown. I ai trying to locate them to chech it.
This is not a fuse problem. You have a faulty drivers window switch, reed circuit, or some wires have become disconnected from the spade terminals. Take off the door panel and gain access to the switch assembly. Look for disconnected wires, any burned insulation or magnetic reed switches(glass tubes with coil), or anything out out the ordinary. Most windows have a secondary switch wich allows the window to continue to roll down once engaged until it stalls and stops. This is achieved by the use of a magnetic reed switch or other component. When the window motor is running the coils on the armature act like a resistor where current flows slowly as the the energy stored in the inductor in the form of a magnetic field. When it stops the coils act like a short and current flows higher and the reed switch circuit opens the connection so the battery does not drain or keep shunting current though the motor. Disconnect the leads from one of the switches that works, marking the location of each wire with masking tape and numbers, letters, symbols, ect., Test the operation of the switch with a continuity meter so that you know the characteristic operation and compare it to the others that won't work. Replace the bad ones as necessary and you are styilin'. I hope this helps

Read your owners manual. It doesn't sound like the fuse though(only two doors are not working, but if the fuse blew none of them would work). Buy a cheap test light and test the switches, then for power to the power window regulators. There's a several screw on the door panel you have to remove and there's a door panel removal tool for prying out the plastic clips that hold the panel on (but you could use two flat blade screw drivers and be carefull not to damage the panel). If you don't have experience working on cars I suggest you buy a repair manual for your car.
