This is something that a transmission shop will have to fix. also sounds like the sensor on shifting of transmission isnt receiving proper shifting signal.

It is the neutral safety switch/range sensor. This is a known problem in these cars and not covered by the drivetrain warrantee. Fairly simple replacement for a trans shop BUT DON'T LET THE SHOP CHARGE YOU FOR THE PART. BUY IT YOURSELF. The part can be bought online for anywhere between $35 and $60. The shops (at least in this area) will charge over $150 for it.

it sounds like the sinchronizing rings are worn in the gearbox which means that the gearbox will have to be dismantled to repair, best to get the box fully reconditioned in this case

I have a 2007 suzuki forenza that has atransmission problem can only drive in 3rd gear. On the dash has a D in a box with a slash trhu it. What is the problem

My wifes car is doing the same thing. Had the code pulled from the OBD II port and it gave me two codes: PO700, and PO705. Both codes pertain to a TRS (Transmission Range Sensor). Suzuki has an 84 month/ 100,000 mile powertrain waranty. Take it to the dealer and talk to them about the situation. The thing about Suzuki is that their transaxles (transmissions) are none-serviceable

Transmission or Engagement issue?

I had the same problem with my 2006 Forenza - the problem was the transmission range sensor. If you look under the hood, on the drivers side, you'll see your trans. cable connected to a round part that also has an electrical cable coming from it. That is it. Part costs $36.07 at oemsuzukiparts.com (search for Neutral safety switch in the mechanical catalog).

TRANSMISSION PULLS VERY VERY SLOW IN DRIVE AND ONLY WHEN I ACCELERATE HEAVILY. REVERSE WORKS FINE.

is this car still under warranty? if so take it back to the dealer and don't accept it as repaired till you drive it. sounds like the logic that controls the transmission is flipping out, sometimes they will tell you that it needs a reflash. what this amounts to is that the manufacturer put some not so great programming in the logic when they built the car but now they have a patch or fix that makes it work better but you have to pay them for their time to install the fix. ask them what they will charge you for the privilege and decide if it's worth it to you. there is a recorded technical service bulletin about harsh shifts for your car. well, actually there are two, the latest one a revision of the first. i would try to make this their problem, it really is. hope this helps.
