Question about 2006 Ford Mustang

1 Answer

2006 Mustang V6 starts but cuts out after three seconds. I checked fuel pressure at the injector rail--all is well within specs. Fuel filter is new. When running if I push accelerator it shuts down. Was told to check different keys to ensure chip was not to blame---all keys check out okay---doing the same thing no matter what key. Live a long ways from professional garage, so towing is not practical. Where do I look next to get it on the road and to a pro for further checks?

Forgot to mention had already checked that. Problem still there. Anyone know if the security system can cause this to happen? Daughter's 02 Grand-Am did same but turned out to be the security system went haywire. But i am not sure how the Ford sysstem works.

Check your gas cap, I know it sounds weird but that causes a vacuum, also is your air filter on tight?

I just changed the fuel pump in a 1990 firebird. There is still no fuel to the fuel injector

Check fuel pressure at the rail. If it's not within specs, check the pressure relief valve on the fuel rail - the one that feeds fuel back to the tank.

If the pressure IS within specs, it's time to start seriously suspecting the car's computer.

Chevy tahoe 1999 now it starts but runs for a few seconds then i wait it starts and run for a few seconds again

Seem's like your fuel pump isn't able to keep the good fuel pressure.

Might be a good idea to check your fuel rail pressure. I assume that it drops before your engine dies!!!

If fuel pressure is ok in your rail, try cleaning the fuel rail and injectors. Sometimes dirt can go from a trashed fuel filter an clog yor rail or the injectors.

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Malabu that want start it's turning over but no gas is getting to the engine

First turn the ignition switch on and listen for fuel pump to come on for 2 seconds then cut off unless the engine starts.Next hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and with key on and engine off see what the pressure reads. If its not within the specs replace fuel filter and fuel pump.

When i try to start my 99 vw passat gls v6 it will barely start and stay started for possibly 5 sec with no presure on gas pedal if i keep my foot on the gas it will stay running but the rpms wont rise...

it hard to say there few things that could cause this but sounds like it a Fuel issue
Possible bad fuel pump totallly clogged fuel filter bad injectors Out of gas etc.
first thing you need to do is check your fuel pressure ( I bet it be low ) if it low check fuel filter if fuel filter good replace fuel pump
If Fuel pressure is within Specs then test the injectors
if Fuel pressure is ok and injectors test out ok then check ignition system (spark plugs, coils, module etc)

My 2001 Saturn, will start but not stay running. We have checked the fuel pump and all fluids. Did a compression check this morning, fuel injectors are not injecting fuel into fuel rail. Why is engine...

You said, 'fuel injectors are not injecting fuel into fuel rail' but it's my understanding that the fuel rail gasoline is supplied by the pump, and the fuel injectors just pulse to allow fuel to get to the cylinders. I would check out the fuel delivery problem further. Check for pressure in the fuel rail that is within specs.

If not, then the pump or fuel pressure regulator may be the problem. Check the fuse for the fuel pump. If good, then the pump may be bad in the tank.

Good luck on this.

Mustang stalls when trying to drive and will shut down

Measure fuel pressure on injector rail - should be 38 to 40 psi. If low or fluctuating, then replace regulator. Another possibility is the in-tank filter being clogged - rare I know, but trash in the gas tank and it's clogged.

1999dodge p/u wont go over 40 runs great at idle new plugs ,wires, cap, rotor.acts like no fuel

Replace fuel filter, because it is cheap & easy, and may solve problem.$20
Fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank $5...listen for even ticking sound in injectors at idle and higher RPM. Injectors can be services/or replaced easily. $60 each
Fuel pressure regulator, next to fuel rail, may be going out...$75
If you have an in-line pressure guage, you can meause the fuel pressure to see if is within specs.

I have to change the 4 injectors every 4 month to stabalize the engine on 2007 hilux p/up

Sounds like you have rubbish in your fuel rail and or in the filter and tank. Drain the fuel tank, change the fuel filter and take off and clean out the fuel rail. When you have done the above, check the fuel pressure if its not within spec, change the fuel regulator.

Low fuel pressure

U 1st need to test fuel pressure at the fuel pressure test port on the top of the engione in the fuel supply rail to the injector tops, it looks like a metal tire vale stem, u will need to buy a special fuel pressure tester to do this test. U should have around 55-60 PSI at idle, it should go up when u gun the engine but never go down, if it goes down the fuel filter or pump are suspect.

1999 Ford Mustang V6

I would recommend replacing your fuel filter, I also drive a V6 and after replacing my filter it really improved my milage and my car ran alot smoother. I would also recommend buying a octane fuel cleaner, that will clean out your fuel injectors if those are clogged up. If it comes down to down you may need to replace the fuel injectors, but it doesn't sound like the problem is too severe if the engine is still running which is good. I recommend not to drive until the fuel filter is replace as well as putting octane injector clearner in the gas tank. You can find the octane cleaner at Checkers for cheap.
