Thanks for using Fixya!

Have you recently washed your engine? if yes, open up the distributor and check if there are traces of water inside it. If you find water or if its moist inside, just wipe off the distributor cap with dry cloth and replace the cap and everything should be okay after that.

If you haven't washed your car lately and its not raining around your place for a while...its possible that the ignition fuse or relay is busted. Another possibility is you probably have a bad ignition coil. just have it replaced and your car should start after that. also try to clean the contact points inside the distributor. use fine sanding paper to clean the contact points inside the distributor. you would probably find some white residue in there. take it out.

Have a great day.

It most likely is your ignition and firing order around your spark plugs. take out your plugs and inspect each and every one of them ok?
also if you have ignition boot coils perform a scan and see if there is any spark in your motor at all for that matter. last but not least you could have an electrical short and worst case scenario you may have to change out your ecm brain computer which is less than $200.

My 94 mazda protege will crank but wont start. I replaced rotor and cap. Battery. Air sensor. When i try to turn over a thud comes fron the air sensor. Help please!!

If it won't start, have you checked for spark and fuel pressure? Remove one plug wire and ground it over the engine. Crank the engine and see if there is spark. IF spark is present, check fuel pressure to see if the pump is working. If spark and fuel are present, check for cracked air hose from air filter housing to throttle assembly allowing unmetered air into the engine. Also check for timing belt issues

What runs the daytime lights, dash warning lights, and fuel pump. these seem to be the factors of why my truck only cranks but doesnt start.

Check all fuses and relay fuses. Then "crack" the fuel line to the injectors and crank to see if fuel is present. If fuel pressure is present, check for spark (Ensure no spilt fuel is around) by cranking with plug lead shorted off the spark plug.

Engine will not run, seems like it is not getting gas?

Spray carb spray or starter fluid into intake hose then try to start. If starts then suspect fuel pump and or fuel pump relay. If does not start check spark. Pull off spark plug wire and ground to metal make sure no fuel is present and be careful not to spark yourself, crank car while grounding out wire if no spark suspect coil, fuse, ignition control module, crank sensor, wiring, or computer.

Cranks but wont start

a host of reasons,
  • check if you have a spark buy removing ht lead from spark plug and holding near metal pat of engine while cranking, use insulated tool to hold lead, if spark thats ok
  • remove spark plug after lang cranking and smell if gas is present or plug is wet, if wet you are geting fuel
  • then ask again once you know what is not happening
  • has it electronic ignition
  • has it fuel injection or carbs

Crank won't start

Hello, first thing i would do is check for spark, then fuel, if spark is not present you could have a dead coil or a bad crankshaft position sensor. if fuel is not present you could have a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. good luck

95 Jaguar XJ6 will not start and No codes present?

During cranking @crk sensor u should see up to 1 ac volt. Also if cam position sensor is @ fault u may not get a code, internal fault. Cam sensors are not availible, but rebuild kit is availible. The engine has to be set to top dead center aligning mark on crank pulley & tab aswell as mark on cam sensor itself.
