This is a problem with your electrical sytem and your ecm brain computer. your computer is sending the wrong commands to your lighting accessories and overriding their switches. this happens in conjunction with the wiring harness that goes to your headlights. check the harness for any electrical shorts you may have ok?

My son has a 2004 Crown Vic and when he turns on the high beams it causes his battery to lose power so the car has to be boosted every morning. Even when he purposely doesn't use the high beams sometimes...

Ford Electrics are a big PIA. Get a repair manual for the car. Get a DVOM and in your spare time start from the headlights and work back to the light switch. Look for the power draining with the meter. Start by checking the connections and then the individual wires. It's a long tedious process usually better left to a qualified ford mechanic. It's probably a bad switch though.

Do you have power at the headlight switch ?
The switch has a built in circuit breaker.
Is power getting from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch and beyond ?

Headlight problems

Hi. That sounds like the Low/high beam switch is malfunctioning and in need of replacement. I believe this because the headlights will not come on no matter which power source is attempting to activate them. Clearly, they are not getting power. Since the high-beam indicator light is functioning and indicating HIGH BEAM it IS getting power, There is no further interruptions in that circuit, save the fuse. IF the fuse is good,.. tested good.... Then the switch is bad, if the fuse is bad... replace it. If this doesn't solve the problem You have blown all your headlights simultaneously, or lost all the connectors to the headlights all at once, or possible got so unlucky as to lose all connectivity to just the headlights magically. I'd bet the fuse if I didn't believe that you would have checked that before posting the question here, and that doesn't account for the indicator to be stuck, so.... This pretty much leaves the switch ol buddy, sorry.

Fan won't shut off

Try hook up the rad fan wires to the wires that power the headlights so that when the vehicle is running the fan would come on, or even try a toggle switch. If this aint working take the car in to the mechanic. hope I could have been some assistance. Charles H
