Replace Front Bearing 1996 Lexus GS300

I have changed bearings on various cars, including a Toyota Camry, which I have been told is simialar to the Lexus.

Just wanting to know if there is anything I would need to do different on a Lexus, as I have never replaced the bearings on a Lexus?

And is it simialar to the Toyota Camry?

The way you did the installation on a camry is the same way on a lexus there both F W D and similar parts when you work on it you'll see it the same.

How to replace front wheel bearings

I would suggest that entrust this work to your local garage as special equipment is required ,in the order of a big press to remove and re-install the new bearing ,hitting it with a big hammer is not the logical solution in changing a bearing

Wheel bearing is making the car shake what could be wrong

Need more information. Are you sure it is the wheel bearing? I replaced a wheel bearing on 1996 Corolla after it broke. Had to take wheel apart and replace with used bearing (from junk yard). Not that difficult, but you might check your rims on the wheel first. Have a tire shop balance your tires to see if you have a bent wheel rim. I had a tire shake until I would hit 70 MPH and it would disappear. Needed to change out tire rim to eliminate shake. It can cause bad wear on your tire.

06 gs300 awd left front 'howls' turning to the right. is it bearing? cv/axle?? degree of difficulty for week end warrior to replace??

Mostly bearing. Check this by lifting the wheel and grabbing the top and bottom of the tire. Any movement in and out is the bearing. Rarely does an axle make noise, but they do vibrate. Sounds like you may already work on your cars , so this job should be OK for you to do. Best parts to remove are the axle, tierod end, and strut. This will make it easier for you to remove the bearing. If your car has the bearing pressed in then you have to remove the lower ball joit also. You will have to take it to a shop and have it pressed out and back in. Usually around $30.00, if you take a bearing with you, which I suggest.

What type of front wheel bearing for toyota camry DX,1991, v6

It is a fairly large double row bearing on this front wheel drive car, Any auto parts store, or dealer will get you the right part, and they are not something that is easy to replace, I suggest you to please take it to a qualified mechanic as it takes some tools you probably don't have. Hope this helps.

How to change a rear wheel bearing on a 1994 toyota camry

The rear wheel bearing on a toyota camry is replaced by replacing the wheel bearing and hub as a unit. this is a design change as compare to older models with two piece wheel bearings. Scotch drive wheels. Remove rear wheel. Remove rear brake drum. (note: if emergency brakes are applied you will not be able to remove brake drum) Remove dust cap and hub retaining nut. Hub should slide off as unit. Replace hub with new unit. Installation is reverse of removal.

2002 toyota engine, oil sludgecaused my car to stopped and now needs overhaul

Complain to Toyota, they are fixing some of these car for free. Here is the explanation and the list of problem vehicles.

Oil sludge or black sludge is a solid or gel in motor oil caused by the oil gelling or solidifying, usually at temperatures lower than 100 degrees Celsius. Sludge can be a major contributor to Internal combustion engine problems, and can require the engine to be replaced, if the damage is severe. Sludge is usually caused by the presence of water in the oil, and can accumulate with use. Ways to minimize sludge production and accumulation includes performing frequent oil changes, using synthetic oil, and following the manufacturer's engine maintenance routine.
The following engines were reported by the Center for Auto Safety and/or their manufacturers to have a problem with sludge accumulation:

  • 1996-2001 Toyota 3.0 L 1MZ V6
  • 1996-2001 Toyota 5SFE I4
