Question about 2003 Dodge Stratus

Added 1 can of refrig: compressor kicks off and on repeatedly

My A/C was running a little weak, so I added a can of refrigerant. Now, the compressor kicks on and then off every 15-20 seconds and really drags down the engine each time this happens. A/C works intermittently now.

I used a small can of r 134a in my 2007 Ford 500 still not getting cold. What next?

Some things to check:

1. Is the compressor running?

2. Is the suction (where you added the refrigerant) line cold or
at least cool to the touch?

3. Is the system set to cooling inside the vehicle?

If you had to add refrigerant, there could be a leak somewhere. One small can of refrigerant is not enough if the system is empty. It will take around 5-6 one pound cans. However, the system should should be leak tested otherwise the newly added refrigerant will leak out.

It sounds like you've done just about everything except to check if there is a bad or intermittent wire causing this or perhaps your low-pressure safety cutout switch is possible going bad causing the compressor to kick on and off?

2001 Chevy blazer ac compressor kicks on then immediately off

Its supposed to do that.
If the system is full of freon, the compressor should start up above 30psi and stay running.
Have you added any freon yet ? What is the high side pressure ?

How many cans of freno is needed to recharge a 1995 lincoln town car

I believe that yours can hold up to 3 cans (12 ounce) when empty. The best way to do it is add the freon until the compressor kicks on, wait and watch. If the compressor kicks in and out, then add some more. Wait and watch. Do his until it runs continuosly. then start watching the dryer (big aluminim canister) When this begins to sweat then you have added the right amount. If it doesn't start to sweat right away (a minute) then add just a little more. You can overcharge a system too. which will result in no cool air.

Air conditioner doesn't run.

it is the low pressure switch trying to save the compressor. the system is low on refrigant. on this ford it should be R-134a all new cars are that refrigant.

I hope you are adding R134a & not R-12. I think you are just confusing them.
our problem is a leak in your a/c system somewhere. Your a/c should cycle about 4 times/minute. When you add refrigerant, you are refilling the system and making it work again. The system only holds about 3 cans of refrigerant. If you are doing yourself, get a fill hose with a gauge on it so you can see if it's "ok" low or high pressure.
The leak will probably require pro ehlp.
