Hey, Bro! Try checking for vacuum leaks. Have a friend whose 94 grand am 2.3 did the same thing. Engine would shake violently when stopping... So vacuum leaks are most likely the problem. The brakes don't work good when this happens because the brake booster operates on vacuum. in fact alot of stuff works on vacuum... on hers the PCV valve hose totally wasted along with a couple other leaks! If you can't get it fixed real soon you can get it to go after stopping by stepping on the brake, revving the engine a little before placing it in gear, then slowly let out on the brake. This keeps the RPM's high enough to keep the engine running... careful though... don't rev it too high.

Sounds like a your tie rod ends or ball joints are bad. as far as it turning off in gear means that the fuel injection is screwed up which means its a gas problem which is a intake problem with wrong fuel mixture or even a vacuum leak.

SOURCE: I have 1994 Pontiac Grand AM 2.3. After the car

If it's an automatic transmission I'd suspect it may not be shifting out of overdrive and this is causing the shaking and stalling. There is a plug on the transmission that can be unplugged and vehicle can be driven without any damage. I've been told it's a common problem with these cars. Ask your local mechanic about it.

Have you checked your air filter a clogged air filter will cause your car to die when idleing. You could idle up the engine a bit if that does't help.A bad o2 sensor could also be the culprit. Start with the easiest first and go from there.

1994 pontiac grand prix, starts up and runs fine until it warms up, about 4-5 min, then dies and will not start until cool, has new plugs and new fuel filter

the mass air flow sensor will cause this. you can remove it and spray it with electrical cleaner or maf sensor spray. you can buy at any auto parts store. follow directions on can for maf sensor spray. this sensor is very sensitive to dirt and debris. and also make sure air filter is clean and hose from filter is free from dirt.

Could be a faulty engine coolant sensor but there are other things it could be as well. Might be fuel pump and or relay, fuel filter, vacuum leak, gas cap, might be ignition components(p/u coil, coil, plugs, wires). Take a look at the cars maintenance history and if the engine light comes on while this problem occurs, have it read. It might help you or put you in the right direction.

Engine dies when warm, tough warm start

If you follow the throttle linkage from around the intake you will see a little black box. Inside the box is a throttle adjustment. Ours actually slipped out of adjustment and there is where you can adjust it back...very simple to do..Give that a shot.

Check the fuel filter & air filter. Also check the exhaust system. The Cat. convertor could be plugup, and not letting it breath.

Ignition coil or Ignition control module I would look towards the ignition control module.I had a 91 cavelier do the samething exact same and i tried everything to try and fix it,it turned out that it was the ignition control module. There will be 2 coils mounted onto that plate. It ran good till it warmed up,once warmed up it would stall and spitt and sputter,if left for awhile would start up and go good untill it warmed back up.Once the module would get warm it would quit working untill it cooled down
