2003 Cadillac Seville. I Have Changed The Air Filter & The Mass Air Flow Sensor. Car Is Even Worse. When I Put The Car In Park The Engine Races & The Temp Gage Rises.
Hi Patricia Ballard, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Is the engine light on? If yes, please get the computer scanned and post the trouble codes here.Hi Patricia Ballard, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Yes Light Is On. Codes Are P0101, P0171, P0174,P0300, P0326, U1000. I Haven't Heard Back From You.Yes Light Is On. Codes Are P0101, P0171, P0174,P0300, P0326, U1000. I Haven't Heard Back From You.
p0101,mass or volume air flow circuit range perfomance problem,p0171,system to lean(bank 2),same as p171,random/multiple cylinder misfire detected,p0326 knock sensor 1 circuit range/performance (bank 2 or singe sensor,u1000 just means that dater primary id missing hope this was some help, you will have to work out what thay mean, all the best.p0101,mass or volume air flow circuit range perfomance problem,p0171,system to lean(bank 2),same as p171,random/multiple cylinder misfire detected,p0326 knock sensor 1 circuit range/performance (bank 2 or singe sensor,u1000 just means that dater primary id missing hope this was some help, you will have to work out what thay mean, all the best.

When I disconnect the mass air flow sensor while car I'd idling and the engine don't turn off, does that indicate a bad mass flow sensor? Pleeeeease HELP!

The MASS AIR FLOW sensor is located after the air cleaner, to the air hose that goes to the throttle body. When you find it ,you will know how to replace it. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.
ok lets start with the codes they say your getting. P??? which 1's and how many. there are few o2 sensors, are they next to the Exhaust next to the converter? MASS AIR FLOW -MAF use this, for now i am guessing, until i see the correct codes your are getting. this could be the 1 you may have below, please read it........
Faulty mass air flow sensor
- Intake air leaks
- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection
Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.
possible symptoms Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Engine stall
- Engine running rough
- Excessive fuel consumption
- Excessive smoke
the code is generated when An excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM).
Check the idle fuel pressure. Load the electrical with headlights and heater defrost etc and see if problem gets worse. Attempt again with all accessories off. Could be fuel pump is getting low voltage at idle or fuel pump is failing. Bad fuel pump would definitely be a problem high fuel demand. Check vacuum line between pressure regulator to intake manifold.
Check for a air leak in the intake manifold. Gasket/hose etc. The P0171/P0174 is an indication that not enough fuel or tow much air. You can sometimes hear the air leak during idle.
Best solution is to use a graphic capable scan tool and watch the fueling trim/idle.
the mass air flow is located on the outside of the air box. this is where you put the air filter. undo the clamps that hold the hose onto the air box and to the throttle body. undo the bolts that hold the air box in place and remove the air box. there are 2 small bolts that hold the mass air flow to the box remove these and reinstall in reverse order. heres a couple pics to help you identify it. hops this helps
I would check the vacumm lines and intake manifold. any vacuum leak will set a maf code. I done alot of maf codes and not replaced one yet. not saying they don't go bad, they do. also you can remove the maf and clean it, use brake clean, and also clean the throttle body, aspecially behind the plate, use a brush if you have to. this does work alot of times and makes some cars run as if it had a major tune up. Let me know
There are a couple of things that can be tested before replacing them.
Have the mass air flow sensor tested, and have a fuel pressure test done, there might be a weak fuel pump and/or faulty fuel pressure regulator.
Check your air intake tubes if there even slightly loose your car will stall also if it has the (MAF) MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR on the intake it could be the problem this is around $50-100 bucks. But it sounds like the air intake tubes are loose you may also would want to change the air filter it could be dirty and plugged up,
Running rough?? If i took a guess I'd say there's a faulty injector. Does it smoke like hell ?? Does it also miss at idle?- If so get a line wrench and a rag handy. Start the car and while idling wrap the rag around the base of the fuel line connector on injector 1 and crack it just a bit until fuel comes out. It might spray, thus the rag. If the miss gets worse, that ain't the injector to blame. Continue with the other 3. If you crack a line and there is no or very little change in the miss then you found the guilty party.
On a long shot it could also be a stuck valve.
Did that get it?? It sounds like an issue other than MAF but.... get a multimeter and try probing the connecter to the MAF. When you find out what it is , please let me know. I'm curious
The crazy part about it my car doin the same thing.Part of problem was I had got some bad gas from a cheap gas station( so watch your gas) I replaced fuel filter and pump (by car shop) and put in jet cleaner also. When I took car out shop it was still doin the same thing. I have changed the throttle position sensor and it seemed like it half-way fixed the problem, but now all it do is stall or cut off when touch gas pedal.

Yes Light Is On. Codes Are P0101, P0171, P0174,P0300, P0326, U1000. I Haven't Heard Back From You.
Please Comment.
p0101,mass or volume air flow circuit range perfomance problem,p0171,system to lean(bank 2),same as p171,random/multiple cylinder misfire detected,p0326 knock sensor 1 circuit range/performance (bank 2 or singe sensor,u1000 just means that dater primary id missing hope this was some help, you will have to work out what thay mean, all the best.
