Auto could be linkage jammed from no parking brake on hill, or interlock solenoid not working (console).
probly a worn trans--try ajustin the tv-cable 1st-its attached to carb and gos to the gears to shift them--get a pressure test done and a test drive by a pro--if he sez rebuild u may want to hold off cause its only an overdrive issue--when clunking--slippin--or no motion---then a jaspar rebuilt is the choice
