This sounds like the universal joints on the drive shaft is worn and the click is from the engaging and disengaging of gears in the auto box. Have a look at the universals.

probly a worn trans--try ajustin the tv-cable 1st-its attached to carb and gos to the gears to shift them--get a pressure test done and a test drive by a pro--if he sez rebuild u may want to hold off cause its only an overdrive issue--when clunking--slippin--or no motion---then a jaspar rebuilt is the choice
