Question about 2002 Kia Rio

2 Answers

This problem first began last Fall. Every time there is any rain or moisture, I can guarantee that when I start my 2002 Kia Rio Cinco, it will shudder and rattle, and it will barely be able to accelerate into traffic. If I put the pedal to the floor I might be able to drive 25-35 mph. Maybe the automatic transmission will kick in and let it drive a bit more normally for a few minutes. If I pull over and turn the engine off for 3-4 minutes and start again, it's as if nothing ever was wrong except the battery light might stay on for two days. This problem with the car has already caused me to get rear-ended once, and barring any resolution, I have to assume it will happen again, and maybe next time for the worse. I have been told that this could well be a design problem and there might be no remedy. Is that possible? Should I give up?

Somehow moisture has effected your transmission sensors causing you to have chatter and play with your shifting. change your transmission fluid and change filter too. you could also be having a torque convertor stuff clutch stuff off problem. also sounds like you are having charging system problems too. take the positive terminal off your battery and if car dies then it is also your alternator.

MY 2002 Kia Rio Cinco has a bad vibrating problem. My mechic thinks it could be in the exust system. How do I get this checked out

My 2002 Kia Rio Cinco has always had a vibration problem at 60 miles that stops at 70. We were advised to lower air in tires and keep them all equal. To make a long story short. My husband is a mechanic and could not stand this vibration. He set out to figure it out. The right drive axle is warped. Replaced it today and no vibration. It is hard to see, but with the tire off and up on floor jack you can see the wobble. I believe that this is a design flaw that was common to all Kia Rios. Or why would there be so many with the same vibration problem.

Odds are, the O2 sensor is just detecting an imbalance in the Air/Fuel ratio, therfor causing your O2 sensor code.

Start by changing your spark plug wires, if it hasn't been done in a while.

My Kia Rio Cinco has a problem with rain

The moisture baffles me,but the no power tells me its a bad catalyst, fuel pump,or bad fuel filter,You can have all these checked,at an auto parts store, and get recomedations.I dont see how moisture has anything to do with these though...unless there is water getting in the air intake somewhere.

It's a korean piece of ****...when the timing belt breaks or slips, the engine just stops...only after it has bent a piston, rod, or blown a headgasket...all without warning.
