Problems with fuel?

I have a 92 jeep cherokee larado wit hthe inline 6. At first it would run for 10 seconds then choke off like it was starving for fuel. I changed the fuel filter the vac lines and the fuel pressure regulator i also put in new gas with heet and injector cleaner in the tank but it continues to do the same thing but now it will run for 50 seconds just fine and starve for 10 then go back and forth until it chokes off any ideas? also the pump and relay seem to be fine as well

I always have a problem with the word "seems" when used in diagnostics...Actual pressures are important. However, your problem may be more related to a map sensor or throttle position sensor. Get an inexpensive manual and do some testing using a decent volt/ohm meter and see what you come up with. (map sensor also needs vacuum hand pump to do some testing)

There is no inline fuel filter, this is true of most every manufacturers vehicles. There is a fine mesh nylon sock at the inlet to the fuel pump.

Does V6 Cherokee Larado have a timing chain or belt?

First off, if you have a 2004 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 liter 6 cylinder engine, then it is an inline 6 rather than a V-6. To answer your question, it has a timing chain.

96 jeep cherokee, inline 6 4.0... runs fine... after shut off (5-10 mins) acts like its chokeing out, wont start acts like its missing, no combustion (fuel injected) let sit for 20 mins, fires up fine......

Try the pick-up coil that is under the distributer cap.Remove the cap and rotor button then remove the plate that is under the rotor button.Next you need to take off the relucter wheel that is in the way so you can take out the bolts and remove the pick-up coil.

Engine dies during drive and wont start up

Check the in line fuel filters. Dirt and debris can clog the filter under vacuum pressure from fuel pump and starve the engine. After the car sits and the vacuum is released, the debris falls away from the filter allowing the fuel to pass thru the filter until it clogs up once again. There are also in tank filters but more than likely the culprit is the inline. They are pretty inexpensive and easy to fix.

Engine surges when cold - Once it warms up it runs fine

If carburated, I would suspect a sticking choke, making the fuel mix way too rich.
