Wifes sunroof is open and will not close. Checked fuse it has pwr, removed switch it does not have power ... a ground problem at the sunroof motor...where is that?

First off this is controlled by a module (computer) The switch would only have five volts . 5volt reference voltage from the control module . Not knowing how to test the electrical circuit's for this could be expensive . Short out the module or 5 volt ref. voltage circuit inside the module.
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Look at a wiring diagram here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on body & accessories ,then under subsystem click sun roof . Then click search button then the blue link . Now tell me you under stand what's happening here .

Power Sunroof System Components
The power sunroof system consists of the following components:
• Sunroof control module
• Sunroof Opening Position Switch (SOPS)
• Sunroof switch
• Sunroof motor/actuator
• Sunroof glass (spoiler type, with glass sliding above roof)
• Sunshade
• Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof glass rides
• Power supply for the sunroof control module: SUNROOF 20 A fuse
• Ground from G302

Sunroof Opening Position Switch (SOPS)
The SOPS tracks the position of the glass through 2 limit switches:
• Soft stop limit
• Vent limit
The sunroof control module monitors the limit switches and based on the inputs determines the position of the sunroof glass. As a limit switch closes, the 5 volt reference will be shorted to the sunroof limit switch low reference circuit, pulling down the 5 volt reference to 0 volts.
The sunroof control module understands the position of the sunroof glass based on the different input combinations through the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal and sunroof limit switch open vent signal circuits.

Power Sunroof Does Not Close
Perform the Initialization/Teach Process any time a new sunroof motor actuator is installed in the vehicle or any time an existing sunroof motor actuator is removed from the vehicle. Refer to Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process .

HOW to fix jammed sunroof ?

Repair is normally very expensive. Might be best to try and get the window shut and pull the fuse. Remember that there are drain holes on each side of the window to prevent it from leaking. Dont let any debri get in there.

Sun roof does not work. how do you fix it. ?

Hi,

  1. Open the fuse panel. Turn the knob on the fuse panel cover counterclockwise or push in on the release tabs on the fuse panel cover (depending on the year of your Toyota), and pull down on the fuse panel cover.
  2. Pull the fuse for the sunroof out of the fuse panel using the fuse pullers in the fuse panel. Use the diagram on the underside of the fuse panel cover if you are having trouble locating the fuse for the sunroof.
  3. Check the metal strip in the middle of the fuse. The strip should not be burned or damaged. If it is, replace it with a fuse of the same amperage.
  4. Check the recessed track of your sunroof. Clear away any debris that may be stuck in the sunroof's track. Use engine degreaser and a wire brush to clean the track of dirt. Then, wipe the track down with clean paper towels.
  5. Apply hard grease to the sunroof wheels and track so that the sunroof can move easily once again.
Best regards

My 05 honda accord sun roof wont open

Hi,

The sunroof on your Honda may not be operating correctly. The most common problems with Honda's sunroofs is the track. This is especially true of early 1990s Honda vehicles. However, many Hondas use a recessed track that easily collects and traps dirt and debris. When this happens, your sunroof may not close and seal properly. Another minor problem is a blown fuse on some model years of Honda vehicles. Before fixing anything, however, troubleshoot the problem.
  1. Open the fuse panel. Turn the knob on the fuse panel cover counterclockwise or push in on the release tabs on the fuse panel cover (depending on the year of your Honda), and pull down on the fuse panel cover.
Best regards.

Sunroof wont open

I have a 203 Volvo S80 and the sunroof wont open. New fuse for sunroof, no power or movement adjustment. Could this be a burnt out motor?

I can't figure out why my sunroof and cruise won't work

usually the whole cruise control portion needs to be replaced. if changing the fuses didnt work its an electrical thing that the dealer can only mess with. sunroof are tricky, your gonna have to take it to a tint alarm place or someone who installs them. it maybe simple...or the motor is burned out on it. you can have tons of power to it but if the motor is burnt it will be dead as a door knob and wont open the roof.

Power windows, sunroof, interior lights not working. Fuse?

I just saw your posting. Yes, It could be a fuse, a 10amp interior light fuse BUT... I had to replace the Central Locking Control module which toasted first... I had the 3 open door, no working lights/windows situation too...

The problem seems to be in the main cabin light which has the 3 way rocker switch. Turn this off (depress the side on the driver side of the car (US)). Check the 10 amp fuse for the interior light. If it is burnt, you are OK if its not, you need to replace the Central Locking module. ~$200 US

I still have not replaced the cabin light module where I think a short is. If I replace the fuse in question, and turn the cabin light on, it "pulses" for a few minutes and then cooks the fuse.

you can open and close you sunroof "manually" remove the plastic cover next to your sunroof and dome light buttons (above your rearview mirror) there is an allen wrench stored inside... insert the wrench into the corresponding hole and you can close or open you sunroof by turning the wrench

Sunroof cable

Isn't it electric?

If so, here's a temp solution.Remove the plastic cover that surrounds the dome lights by pulling it towards the rear of the car. There's a key there in that compartment. Use it to open and close the sunroof, but it may be a little stiff, but it works.

Maybe the electric motor is burnt or the fuse is blown. Verify the fuse first if it is indeed electric.
