Question about Honda Accord

1 Answer

Hello! I have a 93 Honda Accord 4 door - I found the fuel pump cover under the backseat, my question is - on top of the cover for the fuel pump I noticed there are 3 slots (like a circle) - there are 3 insertions that you can put a piece of metal in - is there a specific tool that I need to open this?

No special tool needed. Should just be a socket or a screwdriver needed to remove it depending on what they have holding it on for this year. You are lucky that this is so simple to access since many vehicles require the gas tank removed to access the fuel pump. Let me know how this turns out.

Where is the fuel pump for a 1989 honda accord located?

The fuel pump is mounted in the gas tank. If my memory serves me correctly, there should be an access panel under the rear seat bottom. If not accessable that way, you'll need to remove the gas tank.

93 honda accord was runniing fine. suddenly died

Try Spraying starting fluid into the intake if it starts then dies again you have a fuel delivery problem if it doesnt start then check for spark at the plug wires . If you know for sure that you are getting fuel and have spark both then it could be in the timing belt. But check for these two first.

93 honda accord, interminte fuel pump comes on a few times then won't come on again for hours. I have already ready replaced PGM relay, the fuel pump was replaced 4 months ago. just change the fuel filter...

We droped the gas tank, and found that the ground wire was not making a good connection. We re-attatched the wire and it has worked fine ever since.

My sons 93 honda accord went dead while he was driving home

If the timing belt went, the engine will crank real fast, because it is not turning the top end of the engine. That means you valve assembly will not move. If plug tubes are filled with oil then you need to replace the seals. Remove the valve cover, replace four round seals on the inside of the cover. 93 accords are famous for the ignighter going bad. Pull a spark plug, stick a screw driver in it, and hold it close to something metal and crank the engine. You should see a spark. If no spark, replace the ignighter inside the distributer cap on top.

My fuel pump went out on my 1987 honda accord dx and everyone says it under the backseat but i cant find it do i have to drop the tank or wat please help fast. lim

I recently replaced the fuel pump on my 87 LXi. Drop the seat, and pull back the carpet from the trunk. You'll see two little round cover plates tarred to the floor right behind the seat back. Pry the driver side plate loose, and you'll see the cover for the fuel pump assembly underneath - it has a plug, a banjo bolted fuel line, and vent hose attached to it. Remove these, and remove 5 or 6 nuts with a 10mm socket, and lift the fuel pump assembly out, taking care to tilt it accordingly while lifting.

Before removing it though, take the plug loose and use a voltmeter to verify that you get 12vdc to the pump when the ignition is turned on. You should see the 12v for 2 seconds after the key is turned.

Hope this helps.

93 honda accord fuel pump??

Check the distributor by letting the car run and tug on the wiring and see if the car acts up. Under the thermostat housing is a wiring harness, I've seen coolant drip on the connector of the O2 sensor and cause this problem too. The main relay is the switch you're referring to. It's located under the dash of the driver's side to the left. I've definitely seen these go bad. Use a test light on the hot wire to the fuel pump. Have an assistant turn the key in the "on" position and see if you have power there. Let me know what you found out so I can hopefully give you more things to check out. Send me emails to tiqautoperformance@live.com.
