1993 misub montero needed new alternater replaced it now car doesn't want to start. If it does turn over and starts, runs rough at slow speeds and trys to die But runs just fine at 50 mph or higher

o.k... question... when you punch it... does the car barely go... and the engine reve up? if you gently press the gas... does is act the way it's suppose to? if that's what you have... change out the fuel pressure regulator... and the fuel injector... see if that doesn't work for you... o.k... good luck to you

Offhand, a lot of possibilities that can cause no spark and/or deteriorating performance.

• possibilities for no spark:

1. faulty computer;
2. if it is an automatic transmission, the neutral switch;
3. if it has an immobilizer tied to the anti theft/security system;
4. faulty cam and/or crank position sensors;
5. loose wiring connectors, corroded terminals.

• possibilities for deteriorating performance:

1. major tune-up;
2. restricted, blocked faulty injectors;
3. clogged fuel filter;
4. clogged air filter;
5. engine age.

Check and see if the EGR valve is leaking, to check this spray water on it at idle, if the water steams off the valve is leaking and is the source of your problem, also are you sure you hooked the new DPFE sensor up right? re-check it..

Hello,
your problem appears to be the idle control motor located on the air intake manifold it is a small motor that goes bad quite often. Other items that can cause this is a bad /clogged air filter or a tune up (spark plugs and wires), or clogged fuel injectors. to clean the injectors you can buy a container of fuel system cleaner and pour it into the gas tank and as you drive it cleans the system.

Once the fuel system is cleaned via a tankful of cleaner & gas then the idle controller motor would be next on the list to be replaced.
