No brake lights

Tried the brake light relay, fuse, is it really the failure relay and any ideas to repair without replace?

Check your brake switch down at the pedal.power in and when you press the pedal power should exit to the tail lights

Disable ABS without losing brake lights?


Many of the master cylinders have connection for a brake light pressure switch. Some also active the brake lights by placing a switch directly under the brake pedal. You may need to build your own bracket.

Automatic trasmission lever is stuck in park position


When this happens, usually it is because of a failure in the gearshift selector switch solenoid.
The gearshift selector solenoid is the switch that unlock the lever from park position when driver turns on the ignition and release brake pedal.
When brake pedal is depressed with selector in park position, this energizes the solenoid, unlocking the shifter.
Teh solenoid is energised by same circuit connecting the brake lights.
When for some reason (a short for example) the brake light fuse that protects the circuit blows, this will result in a failure to energize the solenoid, and lever won't be released from park position.
You find the fuse in the fuse box, on Discovery this is fuse number 1. This is a 15 Amps blue fuse. Fuse is located in the fascia fuse panel.
In most cases you fix the problem by replacing the brake light fuse.

Another reason for a failure to energize the solenoid is a faulty brake light switch.
This means the solenoid itself is faulty and need to be replaced.

How to proceed:

Check brake lights. If brake lights are not working, check and replace fuse number one in the fuse box. This will solve the problem in most cases.

If fuse keeps blowing there must be a short in the brake lights wiring.
You will need to access the rear light access panels and unplug the wiring harnesses that connects to the tail light assemblies.
Replace the fuse and try again to start the car, with all tail lights harnesses disconnected. If it starts drive the vehicle to the nearest mechanic, the vehicle will not be safe without tail and brake lights.

When fuse is not blowing check the brake light switch. Remove the panel above the brake pedal. There you find several switches, the second from the bottom will be the brake light switch. Unplug the switch connector, put parking brake on, turn on ignition and short the two green wired pins.
You should hear a click, while shorting the contacts move the shifter out of park position

When brake light are working fine, and lever stays on park position, it is usually the solenoid or its connections that are faulty. Try connecting directly the solenoid to power. The solenoid is connected to red and black wires. Apply 12 Volts across the wires, following polarity. If this worked the solenoid will click, and you will be able to move the gear out of parkposition. When there is no click you need to replace the faulty solenoid that is located in the shifter assembly.

Fuse for tail lights 2011 honda odyssey


The tail lights in your 2011 Honda Odessey are computer-controlled. The fuse that protects the tail lamp circuits is FUSE Number 22, located in the underhood fuse and relay box located in the right rear of the engine compartment. It is a 10 Amp fuse. There is also a tail light relay located in the same box.

Please NOTE: If the fuse is blown, the cause of the fuse blowing MUST be located and repaired. Simply replacing the fuse will only result in another blown fuse.

Also, relay failures are pretty rare. If you can find another relay in the relay box with the same part number on it, you can swap them to see if this helps.
If this does not get your tail lights working, you will have to scan your computer network for possible fault codes in order to locate the cause of the problem (which is really a good idea to BEGIN with).

2006 Cadillac CTS brake lights out but bulbs are fine


Take it to any local repair shop.

The ABS Relay,is for the system pump motor,nothing to do with lighting circuits.

Check brake switch !

Volvo 780 bertone. the brake lights are not working.


OK. Several ideas. The 760 is really a 740 with a fancy body. Start with the brake light switch on the brake pedal. Use a short jumper with two alligator clips to bypass the switch. If the brake light works, bingo! A good substitute for the jumper is a cheap 12 volt test light from AutoZone or Sears. Clip one end to a good ground, and probe for voltage with the sharp tip. If the bulb lights on one side of a switch, you have 12 volts coming in. If you activate the switch and there's not 12 volts on the other side, the switch is suspect. Check the fuse. The fuse functions are labelled on the iunside of the ash tray door. Check the @#$%^@# bulb sensor in the relay rack behind the ash tray. It's the big, round red relay in the rear left position closest to the firewall. Failure there can knock your brake lights out. A used one fetches about $10 on ebay. I always carry a spare. You didn't tell me if all the brake lights are out, or just one. If they're all out, it's a systemic problem. One out, it';s usually a bulp or bad socket.

Brake lights won't come on changed switch and checked fuses under dash are there more fuses


Remove the brakelight bulb holder, If you pop out the entire assembly it will save your knucles some skin. Then you want to take some fine sandpaper and clean the contacts "on the housing" well, and coat the with a thin film of dielctric grease or vaseline. I'm sure this will resolve your problem. I've had to do this to numerous Volvo vehicles over the years. Also once you're finished, the dash indicator may "not" go out unless you purchase the bulbs from Hella because of their candlepower exclusivity.

Fusebox is fried


First and foremost you need to find out why the fuse melted,this tells me that something shorted but not quite enough to blow the fuse.Probably your best bet would be to contact a wrecking/salvage yard to get the fuse box,I do beleive it can come from a Prism or a Toyota Corolla(a good salvage yard will have a compatability manual)as far as installation any good mechanic will be a able to do it.

Brake lights out, rear turn indicators out,have to operate front


If the brake light circuit is used also as a turn indicator (by interrupting the brake light), the two circuits are related so you need to check relays for both circuits if the fuses for both are intact. There are normally multiple relays of the same type (they will have a part number on them) so you could try swapping relays to see if the turn signal/brake light functions are restored. 

With the brake lights also out when only braking, I don't think it is the flasher relay but it is also a possibility; couldn't judge that without the electrical diagram.
