One of two things...ONLY two.. either the door hinge pins have worn out, ...or, ... this vehicle has been in an accident... ..there could be a third... after the accident, the door was not adjusted properly.. ( I am a former GM SQE with Cadillac experience!)
Drop the gas tank and check for contamination/corrosion. You're going to have to do that to replace the fuel level sender anyway and check both the fuel pump (it's in the tank) and the primary filter on the pickup tube.
the GMs ecu pcm or other name similar to the vehicle's brain shuts the fuel system off automatically during an accident.
in my joint venture with ford/ nissan for my minivan, as an example, i can hit that reset switch to turn on the fuel pump if the accident set my airbags off, but the vehicle can still be driven to the side...
