Question about 1999 Suzuki Esteem

1 Answer

With my 1999 suzuki esteem 1.8L parked and the engine off the running daytime ligths turn on. This happens immediatedly after parking or at any moment after, maybe next day. Of course, when it happens at night it drains the battery. I think it have something to do with the relay controlling this or the computer. This problem start when I forgot close the driver window and start a heavy rain. I got 1 inch of water in the driver floor. This happens 1 month ago, I dry the car and I have no more problems until last week, (no more rains inside) Can you help me on this?

There's a small circuit board behind the headlight switch (left side Instrument Panel I believe on this car). These have been known to fail before otherwise you should be able to remove the fuse for an easy quick fix when you aren't driving it. You could also have a short between the battery and this circuit. Let me know how this turns out.

Shut off daytime running lights?

You can't disable them it's illegal. If you need to shut them off while the engine runs say at drive-in, apply the parking brake (this works on some but not all cars, and don't try driving with parking brake engaged just one click).
