WHAT IS THE LIKELY CAUSED OF A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT SYSTEM ? IS IT THE ALTERNATOR OR SERPENTINE BELT?

serpentine belt is getting old and hard and the cold weather was causing it to slip
check belt condition ( small cracks across the grooves = scrap and get a new one) and check tension

White yellish goo on oil cap

this is usually from water getting into motor oil.
check for emissions with radiator cap off and engine at operating temperature.
indication would mean head gasket is leaking.

My 2009 auris has a loud noise from the front end and flashing check battery and check engine

You need a scan tool hooked up and the fault codes read that are recorded when these warning lights came on. That is the starting point to understand what has failed here.

I have a 2004 durango 5.7l hemi that makes loud knocking rattling noise when started but cuts off right away. No codes could be found fro OBD. Oil level is fine, just a little dirty. Don't know wha

Engine noises don't leave fault codes unless the knock is so bad the engine is misfiring. When you say it "cuts off right away" do you mean the engine stalls or the knock goes away? If the answer is the knock goes away right away then you have a crank or rod bearing that is loose from wear, the oil pressure fills the excess bearing clearance gap and the knock stops.

Loud grinding noise within the engine and stalling after braking hard

Flex plate is cracked. That is another reason it stalls.

Loud noise coming from the engine check gauges light on ran hot would not start until last night started up but still has a loud noise like something is lose

If the engine ran hot [overheated] long enough then there may be some internal engine damage such as a scored piston or damaged cylinder head. If the engine was hot enough when it was shut off or stalled it may have had to cool down for a while before it would restart. You might get lucky and the noise is being caused by something simpler such as a water pump bearing or drive belt pulley. I'd start by checking both the oil and coolant levels then inspecting the water pump and drive belt for any faults. If the noise is coming from inside the engine then you'll most likely need to have a service facility take a look at it to see where the noise is coming from. Good luck, hope this helps!

I think my car is overheating. I just did a whole bunch of engine work and sometimes when I pull up to a red light it stalls out. It isn't the timing because we've gotten it looked at. Our mechnic says...

Without hearing the noise, there is no way anyone could tell you where the noise is coming from. I would recommend taking your mechanic for a ride to show him what is happening. If it is overheating, your temperature gauge will be high (if you have a gauge) or your water temperature light light should be coming on. Make sure the light works. It should come on for at least a couple seconds when you start your engine. Anyway, if the mechanic is in the car when it stalls, he will no longer tell you that nothing is wrong.
