I had so many suspension problems with my Town Car my family started calling it the "Down Car" :(
I eventually just replaced the air suspension with coils since the car was a bit of a family heirloom and I couldn't really part with it but didn't want to spend a ton of money on an air suspension replacement.
There are a couple companies that make these but I used a Strutmasters kit and have no complaints. Car rides fine now...back to being a Town Car and not a Down Car :)

Yes the odb 1 connector is under the hood , no you won't see any codes for air suspension . What kind of issues ? You will need to buy a manual .
You can view a wiring diagram herehttp://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Copy an paste into browser . Enter vehicle info . undedr system click on suspension , subsystem suspension controls . Click the search button ,then the blue link .
Fantastic Info, Jeff! I have permanently recorded this url. MANY THANKS FOR THIS!
Now that I have some electrical answers, I have a couple of questions ...
The car is bottomed out now - been sitting for about 9 mos.
1. So, *with the ignition OFF* if I were to pull the compressor relay, insert a small wire into the ground female socket for the pick coil, replace the relay and then manually apply ground to the temporary wire, that should pick the relay (if it is good) and apply +VDC to the compressor motor.
'Normally' you can fudge a ground connection without doing any harm to the upline circuitry. Do you see any immediate problem with this test?
2. If the compressor is functional, I would think it would try to apply some air to the air bags and I maybe should hear/see the back end rise somewhat.
But, do the bag solenoids have to be 'activated' to allow air to enter the bags? Do you know?
Pls adv. Thx
Fred
Oh, yeah - one more question ...
What is the 'vent' solenoid for, where is it and what does it control?

Those Lincolns are notorious for that,I'd just get a set of coil springs out of a Crown Victoria cop car(junk yard)and swap them out.Done it many times, you can do it in about an hour, and they'll never leak down again.By the way, there's some O-rings in that system.Make some soapy water and spray every connection, just maybe you'll get lucky.

Hello, I would suggest having the Air Suspension scanned at its Diagnostic plug. You will have to get a scanner capable of reading this unique Diagnostic plug. Now Autozone, Advance, and Oreillys have scanners and you will probably need to call ahead to see if their equipment will do this scan. These above parts stores will scan for free.
As you probably know by now, guessing can be expensive. You may have bought a Relay you did not need. If you have time and determination, you may want to disconnect the Electric connectors at each suspension bag and check for corrosion. WD-40 will help clean the contacts.
It is also possible to disconnect each individual wheel sensor when the buzzing is occurring and you may be able to isolate the problem wheel. Then go from there for Grounding straps and so on.
Your Air suspension depends on all the doorjam and trunklid switches to make a circuit or the Air suspension will not work properly. If the trunklid did not close enough to activate a "trunk ajar" light, you may still have had enough slack for the Air suspension circuit to fail.
You can get into a lot of manual wire testing without a scanner. I would appreciate a note when the problem is solved.
